It's important to shake the bottle as you don't want to lose the texture and flavour that the sediment gives to the wine. I go to my cellar once a month to shake the bottles so that the sediment doesn't stick too hard to the side of the bottles. Cheers.........Mahmoud. Finally remembered my passwor...

The Cullen 97 is also drinking quite well, although still has some time on its side.

None of the Moss Wood 's I have tried recently (96, 96) are ready. However if you can get hold of a well cellared 83 or 87 you would be in for an absolute treat.

Brian As you are probably aware, I dislike high alcohol when it is poorly done (ie. sticks out of the wine). Unfortunately a lot of wines over 14% fall into this category for me, including the 2002 Calliope (we will agree to disagree on that one). The point of the post is that I wonder how Andrew ac...

Reduced - sulphide, rubbery, H2S. Breathed off - not mercaptan. Would have thought the term bottle stink was usually reserved for older wines.

A couple of points you make Andrew that I would take issue with. We don't get many Oregon Pinots in Australia (small production and Excahnge rate).

How does Evesham Wood rate in the Oregon strata ?

Have your rung them and asked to be put on the waiting list ?

As Kris mentioned, the Riedel bag is good. I would never get the energy to make a case, and I figure the money makes it worth it over time - easier and safer to carry than boxes and I have not broken any since I bought one.

Colin This forum is predominately enamoured with big flavoured wines - you won't see many Mt Mary, Wantirna Estate or Yeringberg fans here. You also won't see a lot of Pinot reviews for the same reasons. You will see plenty of reviews of full flavoured Shiraz however (and it can be a very good buyin...

Many eons ago I was a member at Huntingdale. The tea-tree lined the fairways, and you had to take a few extra balls with you as you only had to miss the fairway slightly and it was lost ball !

Agree totally with Graeme and Yarra. Bruce and Martin - you have a right to like big, rich warm climate shiraz as much as others of us like variety. Would agree that Clonakilla will age. I had the 2000 Clonankilla recently and although quite delicious, it was still quite youthful also. Lovely Raspberry-Blackberry fruit and served blind, most picked it as Rhone.

Maybe using the "battle" terminology leads to "brutal" (read ridiculous) Options nights :?

Better off banning your Options organiser from ever running another one as the best form of revenge in my view, rather than continuing the obscure theme !!
