Heathcote vintage reports

Hi Forumites,
I'm after some infrormation on the relative merits of the 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 vintages for the Heathcote region.
2006 is under-represented in my cellar and I'm wondering if I should top it up?
Any advice gratefully received.

Agree about Becasse - very easy to understand why they lost a hat. On the other hand, Bistro Ortolan in Leichhardt was special.

While I'm happy with the service and ok with the price, as spagbowl says, there's not a lot between the various storage companies. Also, you may get more flexibility somewhere like Kennards. Cellarit pricing is here...

I have many (too many) dozens stored with Cellarit and the service has always been very good over the 4+ years I've been a customer. Their accounts payables system seems a bit archaic but thats never really been a problem. If you contact Scott Witt you should be able to arrange an inspection of the ...

Well, back from NZ but managed to get to only about 8 cellar doors. Quite a few were closed with all hands in the vineyards picking. Picked up some Black Barn and Te Mata in Hawke's Bay and Ata Rangi and Martinborough in Wairarapa. All were very friendly and helpful and when discovering we were visi...

The 19779 Wirra Wirra Cab Sauv was opened 1 hour before drinking. The cork disintegrated but no sign of taint. Very stinky on opening but this blew off over the hour. Plenty of bright colour - very slight bricking but barely noticeable.

Still in fine condition.

Reccomendations for aged reds

We are entertaining for lunch next Sunday and I am looking for a recommendation of an aged red. One of our guests has undergone chemo-therapy in the last few years which means he is no longer able to enjoy young tannic reds. I have the following in my cellar... 1970 Lindemans Bin 4110 Burgundy 1973 ...

Places to stay while visiting the Clare Valley?

I'll be visiting the Clare Valley in mid-July with friends, dropping into a few cellar doors and trying a restaurant or two. I would appreciate any suggestions from forumites for places to stay? Maybe upmarket B&B or good hotel/motel?

2004 Coonawarra Cab Sauv picks?

I am an occasional poster but constant lurker to this forum. I have almost completely sworn off buying wine over the last 12 months as I had allowed my cellar to grow too large. Thanks to Guest and Bill for the suggestions, but I think the humidity level is probably ok - required to preserve cork. Many cellars and other storage environments run at this level - maybe they all have mould?

Mould in Wine Storage Fridge

I was lucky enough to win a wine storage fridge through Vintage Cellars at OzWine last year - capacity 50+ bottles. Doesn't go close to being big enough but ok for some of it. BUT, I notice that running at 12degrees and around 80% humidity, there is some mould forming on the bottles. This isn't a pr...
