We are entertaining for lunch next Sunday and I am looking for a recommendation of an aged red. One of our guests has undergone chemo-therapy in the last few years which means he is no longer able to enjoy young tannic reds. I have the following in my cellar...
1970 Lindemans Bin 4110 Burgundy 1973 Hardys Cabernet Sauvignon Claret 1976 Château Cheval Blanc 1979 Wirra Wirra Cabernet Sauvignon 1980 Wirra Wirra Cabernet Sauvignon 1985 Château Lynch-Bages 1988 Wynns Coonawarra Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Limited Release John Riddoch 1990 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau 1990 Lindemans Cabernet Sauvignon St. George Which of these would the forum recommend for a) quality and b) low tannin?

I don't know about quality, but imagine that all the tannin in the 1970 Lindemans will be gone by now...
I would also say that the Hardys, and both Wirras are in the drink asap category.
People have enjoyed the 1988 Riddoch in the past... drink soon I think.
Will leave others to comment on the French wines...

You might want to be careful about acid too if you are planning on having any whites.

Thanks for the responses - I'm going with the '79 Wirra Wirra CS...

The 19779 Wirra Wirra Cab Sauv was opened 1 hour before drinking. The cork disintegrated but no sign of taint. Very stinky on opening but this blew off over the hour. Plenty of bright colour - very slight bricking but barely noticeable.
Still in fine condition.
