Re: Corked 2010 Rockford Basket Press
They're good people to deal with, so it's worth giving them a call. I've had several bottles replaced by them over the past 20 years, and have never been asked to submit 'evidence'. Cheers Mike Thanks for your reply Mike. I sent them an email and Lindi responded within 3 days. She reckons they will...

Re: Corked 2010 Rockford Basket Press
Thanks for the reply Ian. Personally I think if you are going to contact a winery about a corked wine you should keep something to send back to verify it or at least as a sign of good faith, preferably the cork and a good chunk of the wine. Could you imagine going back to a store asking for a new re...

Re: 2010 St Henri
Love the aiyah! But aren't Singaporeans more likely to exclaim aiyoh! =) Sam, have you come across Oaks Cellars in Singapore? They have some pretty special bottles there. I got chased out of the shop for trying to take a picture. My fault I suppose for not asking for permission. In fact, my colleagu...

Corked 2010 Rockford Basket Press
Based in Singapore at the moment, I went home to Melbourne for Mother's Day just past. We opened a few decent wines from our cellar and thoroughly enjoyed them. The only problem was that the 2010 Rockford Basket Press was badly corked. Absent-mindedly, we tipped the bottle into the sink before it oc...

Re: 2010 St Henri
Hello All, I was just wondering if anyone is aware of any locations where I am able to buy a couple of bottles of the 2010 Penfolds St Henri? I have checked on Gavin's site, and the big chain stores, however it appears they are all sold out of their allocation. Thanks in advance. Pat Thanks for che...

Re: Best Temperature to store wine for a longgg time ?
Mike is coming from the fact that theoretically the colder the temperature a bottle of wine is stored in, the slower it will mature.
Seeing it will be stored for a longgg time, by which Mike assumed to mean ''longer than usual, by all means go colder.Otherwise, 13 degrees''.

Re: A few Rockford wines
A few friends got together for a few bottles of one of our favourite wines, Rockfords. I didn't take notes so it's just from memory. 2008 Frugal Farmer. Maybe only a small improvement on a bottle from last year. A good lick of fruit sweetness and that's about it. I'm thinking this should maybe be d...

Does Rockford ever disclose the source of grapes that goes into their wines. Such as where in Barossa Valley or the ages of the vines?

Re: Rockfords Mailer
Hey Wiggum, Will you be able to list the prices of the Noon wines? I am not on the list, but as work dictates I will be in Adelaide the weekend the cellar door opens. I will be making my maiden visit to the winery. I received my Rockford mailer today as well. Interestingly, Rockford made so much of ...

Re: Sunday drinking reports 23/9/12
Nothing sweeter than 3 points at Anfield, but the massive cracks in our midfield are getting harder for Fergie to paper over. After failing to reach the Champs league knockout, and the subsequent midfield demiloition by Bilboa, i was praying for some serious midfield investment in the summer. We go...

2010 Patritti Lot 3 Shiraz Great colour and depth. The nose was bright, savoury and fragrant. The palate was a bit lighter than the nose and colour suggested but has great depth and length in flavour without overstaying it's welcome. The tannins and oak is prominent, which I suppose will soften in t...

It was nice to meet Sydney based forumite Dave Vino and his mate Colin (even if they are both Liverpool supporters). Who do you barrack for Michael? It's great that the truth regarding Hillsborough is finally out. Can't say the same about the minute section of Utd supporters at OT during the Wigan ...

Re: Tasting this Saturday in Brisbane - Wild Duck Creek
I am both surprised and pleased that he made such an effort. When reading articles of Dave Duck personally delivering wines, one would think that it would be limited to only Victoria, and that at only certain regions. It must be something, getting your wine delivered by the actual winemaker, especia...

Re: Wine Storage Advice
Hey all, Just had a quick question about home wine storage: Have a few good bottles at home, but no space, even for a 40 bottle wine fridge and wanted to ask if my conditions were suitable for medium-term cellaring? I have a cupboard in the kitchen I have been monitoring with a hygrometer. In the m...

Re: Penfolds Re-corking Clinics 2012
Absolutely, John. In some ways, getting a clean bill of health on a couple of thousand dollars worth of wine partially justifies the expense of building and running the cellar! The cellar has 1000 in it at present, and it is nice to know the extra care is making a difference. Cheers Allan[/quote] Th...

Any particular reason why they chose to open them all Allan?? Your request or low levels or something else?? Along with the other benefits, nice to have a mini Grange vertical tasting too! I am presuming low levels. I didn't ask. All levels were low neck - none were into the shoulder of the bottle....
