Re: Australian Pinot
I would also throw in Dappled from the Yarra. They have a regular blend which I love, and a single vineyard version which I haven't tried.

Re: April 2026 purchases
I think it is tough times for wineries, especially those with higher pricing. Their pain, our gain, but their pain doesn't sit right with me.

Re: April 2026 purchases
I thought I would give today’s Giaconda bunrush a go, buying for a small consortium but after last years miss I wasn’t hopeful. Website failed to load, then order page wouldn’t take my bottle volume, then it wouldn’t accept Mastercard details. Then re entered everything again and the screen wouldn’t...

Re: 26 Masters
I rate Cruden highly, some literally outstanding holes. Portrush is also way up there, as is the front nine next door at Port Stewart. Old Head is as spectacular as it gets as well. I also rate the New Course at St Andrew’s. But I do agree with Cypress’ rating as world number one, and relating it to...

I believe Augusta has a very good cellar. Others have told me so. I'm guessing these wines will come from it? Mike, all the reason to hone your golfing skills! I'm sure Mr. Tickle may be closer to it than you or I.

Mike Bennie just busy according to him. I wouldn't read anything into it. Hope you are well, Ian Hi Ian, thank you for asking, very well and after a bit of golfing wilderness back on the fairways again (occasionally). Re: Wine Cellaring re-visted ( too much wine? )
Just about all wine lovers >60 (me 65) re-evaluate their cellar. For example with my Wendourees I worked out what others have stated which is the cab Merlot is the pick of the bunch so most of the rest has gone. Quite cathartic actually. Rockford BP gone. Many Standish back to 2012 gone, mainly beca...

Re: The Top 5 Australian Wines, 2026 Edition
totally agree with Sami Odi, but it is still in its relative infancy. I would expect it will be competing for a spot in another 10 years. I admire Grange, but no longer drink it and certainly do not buy it. However, with its history and performance over decades, it remains the Don Bradman of Aussie...

Re: The Top 5 Australian Wines, 2026 Edition
For me Grange has been overtaken by others. I find its model of so called consistency, and its sources from multiple areas, old and irrelevant today. The other choices I agree with. I’m tempted to suggest Sami Odi HD as well, but I’ll see what others think.

I notice that there is still wine available on the website for the mailing list except for the vintage of our hill, after 6 days open. I also noticed that there is some for auction at Langtons seemingly not bid for. With mailing list size this seems strange.

As an aside, what is the vineyard on the home page of the Sami-Odi website? Is it the Our hill vineyard? Mike on TWF confirmed it is. I read that there are 30,000 people waiting to get on the mailing list! wbmonline.com.au and search for Sami Odi. That's a world wide interest, surely. And simply am...

Wine Tour in Bordeaux
Hi all, I’m hoping to use the brains trust of this forum to help me with potential experience of wine tours in mid August next year. We will be staying in the town of Bordeaux. I am resigned to the fact that we won’t be able to visit the big guns. But I guess other wineries will welcome small bus or...

Houghtons 2010 Gladstones Yum! Oh joy, oh bliss! Positively beautiful wine, and plenty left in the tank. Those who were wise and loaded up on the 2020 version at $35 will be very happy in another 10 years time. If my liver doesn’t pack up by then I will be happy too. This and the Sami-Odi Baby Tui ...

Re: 2025 Wendouree Mailer
I had a 2006 Malbec last night. This is what I put on Winefront; I opened the bottle early afternoon and let it sit but took a small sample. Ouch, at first. It was throwing a tannin tantrum up front and a distinct acid spine, but tonight all harshness had gone and what was left demonstrated how good...

Besides the Margaret, my go to Woodlands, and a cellar purchase every year, is the Cab Franc merlot which is usually around <$30. Absolute drinking bargain.

Re: Woodlands ‘Margaret’ vertical tasting
Margaret has been a long time favourite of mine, from the 2005. I would go as far as to say Margaret is a superior experience than the named family marquee reds with the added bonus of being a third of the price. I remember the 2014 was around $38 pb but after that the price started increasing. As G...

Strange, you don't mention Australia. If you are also meaning Australia, there are many people who would fit your bill. They are readily and easily known in our broad wine community and if you can't be bothered to hunt them out yourself, well, this is spam. You need to chase them, not the other way ...

Very interesting I hadn’t heard of baby tui before from Sami odi . Ovronnaz looks superb also ! Sorry, I could have been clearer. Baby Tui is the 2012 iteration of the Hoffmann Dallwitz releases, with most vines established well over a century ago. It is great to see such brilliant evolution of the...

The front label says, like raised braille, “We adore you baby Tui and thank you for entering our lives in 2012. This is for you, your mum, your nana and your great nana moten (I can’t quite decipher that word, sorry Fraser) four amazing women. xxxx”. I have opened a bottle and it has been sitting in...

I had a Fourrier 2009 Les Goulots last night. If only we knew the absolute BARGAINS these were then, but luckily I bought a few, including thi...

Re: 23 Agricola ebenezer
I tried the ‘24’s from tank recently and they were excellent. Lovely fragrant nose and excellent tannin. Nice bright colour and I would expect them to be even better once bottled. I haven’t tried any of the ‘23’s yet but as Mike said, after ‘21 & ‘22, ‘23 is not quite as good a vintage. A lot c...
