Re: Right, what are we/you drinking now .. tonight

Hi Rossco

I'd recommend leaving the 2013 Tahbilk sparkling red to 2023 to 2025. It's way too young still.

Cheers
Paul

More Gamay and lots more Oz Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. I’m not up for the Burgundy Pinot and Chardonnay lottery.

Re: Cellar breakdown by region

Is it just me, or does anyone else find that South African, Portuguese (excluding Port) & USA wine is incredibly difficult to track down here? I can maybe understand the US, given the prices, that there may not be enough of a market to bother, but the other two see incredibly scarce. +1 Same fo...

Re: Giammarino Wines

Thanks Michael. Here’s another one. 2016 Yarra Valley Shiraz Bottled under cork, with alcohol at 13.6%. This spent 18 months maturing on French oak. The colour is a brilliant purple bordering on mulberry. The nose is blackberry and cloves with a hint of dark chocolate. The palate is silky, the weigh...

Giammarino Wines

Hi all Giammarino’s winery is situated in St Andrews within the Artisan Hills sub-region of the Yarra Valley. I live only 20 minutes away from most of the wineries and for many years I’ve been a big fan of the Chardonnay that comes from the area. I’m currently working my way through a mixed 6 pack o...

Re: Cruel cruel Langtons......

I would have thought Langton's would be obliged to nullify all bids and cancel the auction. As a vendor or prospective buyer I would be extremely unhappy if it was me.

Con, you have my condolences.

Cheers

Re: Right, what are we/you drinking now .. tonight

Mark, with out poking the bear again in the Rockford thread, the tips for collecting thread, I am actually really happy that 75% + of all the wines I have purchased are either in 6 or 12...yes might mean I have got to get stuck in, but should have plenty in the drinking window. Don't know if its to...

Or perhaps "potty" is a new way to reference barnyard characteristics.

Re: Seppelt Show Sparkling

Oooh! A Vintage thread - has it aged well after 15 years? Sure has, had a 94 under crown seal last year, sons birth year...magnificent. Nothing I might add like the explosive blow you head from your shoulders style of Rockford SS. The 07 and 12 that I tried last year were fabulous too. Cheers Craig...

Re: Is Rockford Basket Press Worth the Fuss?

I took the opportunity to open a 2015 BP yesterday over a family BBQ. No notes taken but I thought it atypical example of a Rockford BP. No significant change to previous vintages for my taste. I find that Rockford produces a certain “house”, old school Barossa Shiraz. If you like the style, the TW...

Re: 2018 Penfolds Collection release

Not sure why Pennies don't make a single region wine from Coonawarra on a par with 128...(that said 128 is the worst wine in the portfolio, perhaps something happens to the grapes in the truck on their way up to Adelaide). They could have a wine that punters would actually buy...if Wynns can shift ...

Re: Your Cellar Treasure

Like others, it's more based on sentimentality. 2004 Chateau D'Yquem - the year I met my wife. 2006 St Henri (Magnum) and 2006 Henschke Mt Edelstone - the year we married. We have many wines from those years but those are the ones that will be the last to be drunk and that I look forward to the most.

Send it all to Asia, no probs.
Will Penfolds eventually go the way of Fosters?
