Re: Champagne trip

Hi all - resurrecting the old thread instead of starting a new one. Am lucky enough to be heading to Reims in a couple of weeks. Am only there for a day trip from Paris and am booked into Tattinger, Verve & Ruinart. It's going to be a busy day, but let me know any suggestions for more local prod...

Re: Best Recent Champagne Vintages/Brands for the Cellar

Thanks for all the suggestions - will see what I can still find around. I'm keen to pick up a couple of '08 Pol from Gavin but I'm currently in the USA (it's considerably more expensive here) and will only be in Melbourne for a day Monday week to be able to get into my wine cellar and stash them awa...

Re: Best Recent Champagne Vintages/Brands for the Cellar

Thanks! I think there's still some Pol in stores in Australia, and the 2008 Dom is released soon - but yes, I think I've missed my run on the smaller producers. Will keep an eye out once some 2012s start appearing.

Best Recent Champagne Vintages/Brands for the Cellar

Hi there Am looking to buy a couple of bottles of champagne for the cellar - the kind of stuff that can sit there for 20+ years - and cost less than $200-ish. I believe the 2008 vintage was meant to be quite good. Was thinking of some 2008 Pol Roger and maybe 2008 Dom Perignon. Anyone else come acro...

Re: Selling entire cellar as one lot?

I have sold odd bottles through Langtons and agree that they are your best option if you want to move all or most of this. The only comment I would make is that dealing with their bureaucracy through the general number can be arduous. The auction manager is very helpful and I suggest you deal direc...

Re: Selling entire cellar as one lot?

Thanks everyone for your responses - I had a feeling it would end up having to go to an auction house. Maybe I just need to give away some of the cheaper ones which need drinking in the next few years and then keep hold on to the good stuff :)

Thanks again - much appreciated.

Selling entire cellar as one lot?

Hi It's been a while since I posted. A few years back I started accumulating wines that are currently in a wine storage locker. About 450 bottles of mostly Australian wines - some on the cheaper end of the scale, some more expensive - nothing too crazy expensive but there's some very good reviewed w...

25th is looking good. Like the idea of throwing in a single Aussie pinot, happy to grab a Burg though if that's the preference.

I'm in if there's still a spot please. Don't own any Burgundy but am interested in learning more - happy to pick up a bottle for a tasting group - or bring something Aus to compare QPR to - have a number of good pinots.

Ozzie I'm at Huntindale too - have 2 of the same lockers paying $60/month for both, but didn't get 6 months free. We should crack open a bottle there sometime - seems we've got a lot of the same wines too!

Re: June 2015 Purchases

Good to hear. How does it compare to recent vintages? I have only had a half bottle and while we enjoyed it, I think we liked it as much as the 2010 and it was the 2008 that had been our favourite so far (from 2007 - 2012). I've actually only tried the 2012 out of the half bottles too but thought i...

I would be keen on this. Mid-30s here, haven't yet gone on any wine appreciation/education courses even though I've been meaning to. I know what I like, but haven't tired that much of the 'good' stuff yet. Kind of avoided offlines - as much as I'd love to drink everyone else's nice wine and have som...

Re: Time to do the wine budget!!

I emailed Roger in early August last year about being on the mailing list, prior to the stellar reviews on Wine Front and elsewhere for the 2012s, but no email for me. So I'm a little mystified as to how long it takes to get on his list. I started buying his wine in 2010 and I bought some 2012s fro...

Hey - am heading to Hong Kong next week for a couple of days. Anyone got any good tips for regions/styles going for a good price at present (compared to oz) - would be keen to bring back a few bottles (willing to spend around $100 for something that will cellar for ages).
