Re: Weekly wrap up- Sunday 27th June

A couple of 2008 Yarra Pinot Noirs over the weekend 2008 Gembrook Hill Pinot Noir - incredibly light colour and beautiful to drink. Impeccably structured Pinot. 2008 Coldtsream Hills Pinot Noir - has some lovely flavour of cherry and plum, but at this stage stalky and bitter notes are too dominant. ...

Re: TN: Penfolds 2005 Grange & Luxury Wines Preview 27/4/10

Amazing! The first bottle of Grange for tasting was stuffed due to cork. Why dont they put this in screwcap, like the rest? . Seems crazy to me. Couldn't agree more. Every day there seems to be a new study coming out showing a) wines under screwcap do age, b) wines under screwcap have far less inci...

You can leave it alone for many years if you want to. Had a bottle about 6 months ago, and its still tasted incredibly fresh and crisp. Its drinking beautifully but its yet to develop into an aged Hunter Semillon.

Haven't really given much thought to how many bottles I will end up with. My focus rather is having cellar worthy wines across as many regions and varieties as possible. Won't buy more than 6 bottles of any individual wine as well. Do people have each individual Australian region/GI represented in t...

Re: How can a wine 'age' under a screwcap?

Charles, I'm sure others will chime in here with more detailed, knowledgeable answers than mine, but wines under screwcap do age. They do let oxygen in, but at a lower, more consistent rate than cork. Which means that your wines under screwcap will in the vast majority of cases age at a consistent r...

Re: Sydney Wine Show next weekend

I would describe it as a free for all extravaganza. There's over 2000 wines just on tables in a large conference room. Free pour your own wine. It's a bit over whelming with so much choice, and its hardly an intimate, informative wine tasting event, but still definitely worth going to.
