Re: Some sorta gooduns

And the 05s and 06s? I have one or both in the cellar. 05 95pts, some similarity of comments to the 04. drinking window to 2020. If you have the 06 Allan, you may have missed slightly on the 06, 92pts/2015, "a little reduction" perhaps the main detractor. The rest of the TN though reads w...

Kilikanoon Oracle Shiraz 2004 was another self-indulgence. Bloody hell, if you have any of this don't go near it for at least another ten years. It's huge, fully-fruited, oak?, what oak? I thought Jeanneret Denis Reserve 2002 was a big Clare shiraz but it's a softie compared to the Oracle 04. Don't...

The Story Westgate Vineyard Shiraz 2006. Nice, lively acid, a bit meaty, savoury cherry fruit, salty/sour plums, very good line across the palate and persistence. A quite distinctive wine, fair value @ $40. daz G'day Daryl I liked his regular Shiraz and I have a couple of these. I had high hopes th...

Teusner "Salsa" Rose 2008 - a touch of spice, really earthy/meaty rose that pushed my buttons - a notch up on the Rose of Virginia which was my pick of last summer. Not a big fan of rose but found the 1st vintage (07?) of Teusner Salsa at least as good as the better Turkey Flats I've had ...

I swilled heaps of the MP cab 07, preferred it to the shiraz 06 and 07. Seriously thinking of getting another case if there's any left by the time I make up my mind to spend the relatively low price for it's slurpability.

It seems the point I attempted to make was lost in the effluvia of me, my, this, that or the other. Forget about the string analogly - unless your prized aged white is cork-sealed and smells like wet hessian after a horse has pissed on it. In terms or development, is the aim to find the oldest white...

Blends? Don't some verdelhos age well too? Not that I'm into aged whites but it does sound like an interesting evening full of possibilities - wish I could attend but would have to go searching for some "museum" wine/s. Age is relative too. A good 5-8yo viognier or roussanne could be as in...

I'm not into FRS but would suggest that if you like the wine just continue to enjoy it. The majority of punters who also enjoy it wouldn't have a clue what or who is Constellation Brands, let alone that a relatively very few wine consumers (buffs?) have decided to boycott the companys products or co...

Ahhh, you're probably right Wizz - but in another thread somewhere Jeremy expressed his intention to seek out the DBSH chard after having tried the label's ssb and/or sem/chard. I've tried the ssb, prefer the varietal chard - JH 89pts BTW.

Cheers

2008 Sacred Hill Chardonnay - lively and in no way dumb, but this bottle was a bit pongy and rubbery. Maybe reduction or sulpher. I have another bottle to compare it to soon. 2008 Battle of Bosworth Shiraz - it needed a full day to come round, but it did. Generous and sweet fruited. Very pretty and...

De Bortoli Sacred Hill Shiraz Cabernet 2008 I think this is the cheapest red I've had for some time but it's better than the $5.49 it cost. Pennys Hill Red Dot McLaren Vale Shiraz 2008

This is a nice juicy departure from some other ~$10 reds I've had recently (e.g. Annies Lane cab merl 07 and shiraz 07). Very much in the Ben Riggs style, it has plenty of red and black fruits complexed a bit by dark chocolate, coffee oak on the mid-palate with licorice at the back, moving to mild m...
