Re: Adelaide Offline Thursday 24th June @ The Alehouse: BOOK

Sorry, when I saw the salmon and duck options on the proposed menu I immediately thought pinot picking a 2003 and forgot about the pre 2000 suggestion. I haven't seen many old Australian pinot's, are there some around that are worth seeking out ? regards chris

Re: 2009 Wines of the Year

Its a bit late compared to other posts but on the last day of 2009 I've been thinking about the wine highlights of the year. For fortifieds, two rate a mention, a 1975 Reynella vintage port that had been carried from house to house in cardboard boxes for close on thirty years came good. In the wine ...

Re: Adelaide Offline with griff 2/1/10 at the Alehouse: BOOKINGS

Updating my wines for the night, I couldn't get any info on the Portree Pinot,so going for the Jaluka chardonay -which was developing nicely 9 months ago, and the St. Peters because I think it will go well with the beef fillet. Would love to taste the 06 Clonakilla if its still coming along. cheers ...

Re: Adelaide Offline with griff 2/1/10 at the Alehouse: BOOKINGS

I am thinking of taking an 05 Seppelts Jaluka chardonay (Drumborg vineyard) or 03 Portree pinot (Macedon ranges), for the entree and a 01 St Peters shiraz or 07 Clonakilla O'Riada shiraz for the mains. Any thoughts or requests? I don't know much about the Portree except the label has a trophy sticke...

Re: Adelaide Offline with griff 2/1/10 at the Alehouse: BOOKINGS

The food suggestions sound excellent to me. It potentially caters for a range of tastes and more importantly a good selection of wine styles. I'm not sure what to bring but I'll have fun thinking what will match with the salmon and also the beef fillet. Any suggestions are welcome.

With a bit of calender re-arrangement I can make it to this one. Thanks for getting it going Ian. I'm thinking of a top 09 Reisling and a red, unknown at this stage. Any requests on styles that Joe would like to see? Look forward to seeing everybody.

Re: Adelaide Offline with Muscat Mike bookings: NEW DATE 24/9

I'm looking forward to this having caught a cold just before the last one and having to cancel as a result. I know what people mean about food to match the wine and was wondering if we could boost up the number of beef dishes to help with the tannins and body of the cabernets. The other observation ...

I've been trying to get over a cold/flu but I've lost the race and won't be well enough to actually taste all those nice wines not to mention the great menu. Sorry for the late notice but I was hoping I would get over it sooner rather then later, but no luck.

Dear Ian, With these numbers (20++) I think the two bottles, or a magnum of one wine is an excellent idea, and probably the only way we can do things without either missing out on some or getting spoon size serves.
