Adelaide Offline at T-Chow 28th Feb Bookings
Nayan's scheduled to be in town the last weekend in February, so at the moment we're looking at booking a table or two at T-Chow Saturday 28th for an offline (say the usual 7pm start). BYO glasses and something special and/or very interesting to share.
So far the following have expressed an interest in going:
John #11 (+1?)
Nayan
n4sir
DaveB
Mark Jappe
Scanlon (+1?)
PaulG (+1?)
Steve
David & Pam
I'm planning on making a booking in a couple of weeks time, so I'm hoping to have a close idea of the final number of people going by mid-February.
Cheers,
Ian

Have fun everyone - we'll have to make sure we can come to the next one!
No problem Paul - we'll see you and Jazz at the next one hopefully.

I figured you, Jason, Duane, David & Pam appearing will be dependent on vintage conditions playing ball. Hopefully things will work out...
Briony has got back to me to say she'll be going again.

Mark Wickman (+1) has said he's a good chance to attend, and Nayan/Dave have indicated they will ask Andrew Jefford if he'd like to go. As mentioned in the other thread one of the things he hoping to do here is research for a possible book on terroir in Australia, which could be a possible theme for this (or a future) offline.

With the number of people going this could be an ideal time for a magnum/two bottles occasion (one magnum or two bottles of the exact same wine per couple). It may take a little coordination for the singles to organize taking the same wine as someone else, but I think it will be worth it to cut down on the possibility of a potentially huge number of wines for the night, and ensure there's enough of all the wines for everyone to get a good serving of each.
Cheers,
Ian

Dear Ian,
With these numbers (20++) I think the two bottles, or a magnum of one wine is an excellent idea, and probably the only way we can do things without either missing out on some or getting spoon size serves. I enjoy matching food and wine and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on wine that they would like to see at this offline.
regards Chris

Less than two weeks to go, so I guess it's about time we started discussing what we could be taking - ideally a magnum or two bottles of the same wine per couple/two people.
At this stage I'm thinking of taking magnums of 1994 St Hallett Old Block Shiraz and something else (maybe a Shaw & Smith Reserve Chardonnay or an old Bordeaux) which will cover my party of four. A 750ml bottle of 1944 Dalva late bottled Coheita could be on the cards to finish with too.
Jason will take along a magnum (to be determined) which should cover for himself and Nayan.
Cheers,
Ian

Sorry to hear that Steve. Time for a quick update and a prod to get those going about thinking about what they're taking - remember, two regular bottles or a magnum per drinking couple. I suggest those going by themselves PM each other or start posting ideas of what they're thinking of taking in the thread soon to try and match something up.
Nick and Josh have already got in contact and will bring between them a magnum of 2002 Rockford Home Block Cabernet.
Nayan & Jason - magnum of some description
n4sir & Joe (& maybe Garth) - 1994 St Hallett Old Block magnum, 1944 Dalva Coheita
DaveB
Mark Jappe - 1996 Tyrrells Vat 1 Semillon
Scanlon & Matt - 2x 2006 Trial of John Montford Cabernet
Briony
David & Pam - 1994 Wynns Coonawarra Cabernet magnum
ck
PaulG & Jaz +1 - 3x Blue Pyrenees 2006 Merlot
Nick & Josh - 2002 Rockford Home Block Cabernet magnum
markg +1 - Pyrus or other similar Coonawarra Cabernet magnum
Cheers,
Ian

Not sure my mailbox on this site works, but will check back on the board if any other sole attendees are looking to double up on a wine.
On second thoughts I think the two bottles/1x magnum per couple has done the job in limiting the number of wines we're taking already, so it's probably no big deal if we have the odd person taking something different (as long as we can get enough out of the bottle to satisfy 21+ people).
Cheers,
Ian
