Re: Storing wine on the cheap side

Thanks all. I live in Melbourne so temperature is pretty crazy. So I should be fine and not worry too much with those temperatures? I do have a digital high/low thermometer as well and that is what it reads 13-18. On some occasions when the weather reaches 40+ outside, I would check under there and ...

Storing wine on the cheap side

Hi all. I was wondering if you guy can help me with some suggestions for my wine underneath the house. It is at the moment stored in the centre of the house wrapped in a few layer of newspaper and sealed in polystyrene boxes, during winter it is about 13 degrees and summer it is about 18 degrees. Mo...

Re: Wines for Vietnamese Restaurant?

oh man. Finally have a chance to breath and reply to this post.

Thanks all for giving me your opinions. At this stage I'm looking at some cheaper alternatives as you've mentioned.
As for quality Asian beers, what did you have in mind Sparky or anyone else for that matter?

Wines for Vietnamese Restaurant?

Hi all I'm setting up a Vietnamese restaurant in the Eastern suburb and to be honest I'm stuck as to what should be included. I know there must be Reds and Whites but I was wondering if people on this forum would give me their opinions as to what they like. FYI - The restaurant is not up scale, but ...

humidity is between 80-90 percent which is way too high. Some of the labels are crapping themselves already. At this rate i might have to buy a better fridge.

But hawt dam. ^^^^^ that is one mouldy cellar. Would you like a lot of mould with your wine sir?

I love a bargain in these tough times.....Please share yours

Like the other times I picked up a Dome 24 bttls wine fridge for $50 at target. And today I was just browsing the local book store when I saw "1001 wines you must try before you die" by Houn Hooke for just $12. Now all I need is to find a Vintec unit for under $200. (when hell freezes over...

Tell them they're dreamin

HA Can someone tell these store owners that they are dreaming if they expect people to pay $60 for a bottle of 04 bin 389 or even $50 for the 05 vintage in this current economy. It's expected that ones should eat the label as well just to get ones money worth with that sort of price hike. HA end rant

What classifaction can Glaetzers wine be in?

Sorry in advance if my question seems a bit dumb.

In Oz we have Grange and HOG as the top shiraz, but is see the Glaetzer's Amon RA getting really good marks from a lot of people .

So my question is would you or can you compare the AmonRA to the Grange and HOG?

Also I have been noticing that any wine that get a good review or win any trophies then it will automatically go up in prices because every tom dick and harry and including me will rush ou...

My First Rant about Penfolds and Wynns

They bloody keep upping the prices. I really enjoy the Bin 389 and the John Riddoch range which i drink on special occasions but the price is getting out of hand. I mean freakin $50 for 04 389 and $46 for 05 389 and $70 for 05 JR not to mention $80 for 04 St Henri. Might have to search for a new fav...

What you you guys buy if your budget was only $500 for the rest of the year?

There are many others, but I only know about these wine because of the reviews I have read, so the choices are quite limited.

Any input is welcome :D
