Re: Adelaide Offline - Premium Single Vineyard Shiraz

Unfortunately can't do Oct 5. I would be interested if lack of numbers lead to a change of date.

I'm still in.

I'll bring one of the '88 options given earlier. Will dig some of the bottles out this week and check ullage etc.

Re: Adelaide Offline

Looking at '88 reds to bring. Maybe 707, JR, Petaluma or HoG?
If others feel that they are too old, I have plenty of appropriate 98s. Even08s.

Re: Adelaide Offline

Any date will probably work for with me. The 8 idea is too easy, but why make life hard. 88 or 98 JR maybe for me? 78 or 88 Bordeaux? Lots of options that I can slot into, depending on what others bring. Just had lunch, with friends, today at Cliche. Very enjoyable. David, I'm happy to follow up wit...

Re: Early adopters - Screwcap in Oz

Widespread commercial use was probably when many Clare winemakers released their 2000 rieslings under screw cap. Richmond Grove did some rieslings under screw cap in the late 90s My last bottle of their '99 Watervale riesling was superb just a few months ago. I recall being given a screw capped (as ...

Re: Adelaide Offline

I'm interested. Like the Barolo, Bordeaux and John Riddoch themes. For that matter, any themes that will attract good quality wines. The Wendouree tasting was good, though we were way too cramped up on one table at Cliche. I'd be happy to do it there again as long as we nailed down maximum numbers a...

Re: Aussie Whites to Age.

I wouldn't disagree with any of the wines mentioned, and I've had many superb examples of many at 15+ years of age. While the Grosset PH always gets a mention in these discussions, don't overlook the Watervale. At a 15 year retrospective tasting (about 20 tasters), there was a 50/50 split on the pre...

Did anyone compere Sucklings top 100 Australian wines list with his top wines list? VASSE FELIX MARGARET RIVER TOM CULLITY 2014 at no#4 is also #4 on his top wines list. So where were the other top 3 Aus wines? Well, I only went as far as finding the #3 S.C. PANNELL MCLAREN VALE THE VALE 2015 at #28...

Re: Wendouree - Adelaide Offline

Friday was indeed a great night, as noted by many. Given that my 3 top wines were the 3 oldest ones (i.e. 92 malbec, 93 shiraz/malbec and 94 cabernet), I would be very keen to look at a 90s Wenders tasting. Those 3 wines in particular showed what wonderful age-ability this vineyard has. 3 different ...

I agree strongly with Craig. The Sydney event may have been good, but was planned that way.
I'm sure that everyone wanting to come, has done so on the basis of tasting Wendouree wines. So, please let's stick to that.

John Mack would like to join us, bringing a '92 Malbec.
I'll bring a '93 Shiraz/Malbec, plus maybe a backup '02 Shiraz/Mataro, which might make an interesting comparison with the Shiraz.

I just need to clarify that it is not a private room, but a separate section of the restaurant area. About half, as I recall.
Is everyone happy with that? If so, I will reconfirm.

Anyway, Ian, I'll bring it on a future occasion for you to partake.

I'd definitely like to be in. Could do a magnum such as John Riddoch 88, or PBV Summit Chardy 94.
Would it be better do bring a Champagne + a sticky or fortified.

Re: Noon switched to Screw Caps too

Good luck with your 2004 Cranefords. I did a similar thing recently with 2002 Penfolds Thomas Hyland Cabernets. Served blind from decanters, the screw cap was in excellent condition and scored very well. The cork was so badly oxidized, it was undrinkable. Other 2002 wines, with corks, served that ni...
