Hi Jamie

When are you coming to Adelaide next? I'm happy to organize a small offline with higher end stuff

Let me know.

Cheers

I dug this up from starforum. I hosted an SVS / BAsket Press dinner from my own cellar, the venue atop the HSBC Building at 1 Queens Rd Central.

I recall now having a signed letter for the event stating no difference.

"Basket Press Winemakers Stock Release 1998- ( 14% ) Everybody felt this a different wine despite what a personally signed letter from Robert O'Callaghan said stating the contrary! Riper, in a kirsch-chocolate spectrum. Full bodied wine, more muscular and bulked up in comparison to the above."

Someone suggested the difference could be cellaring provenance- mine being cooler than Rockfords?"

Looks like a great night. Thanks for organising David. What style of food? I'll be bringing a 1998 Wynns John Riddoch.

Great Carl I will add your wine to list.

Cliche Exhibition is French. The menu does change seasonally though. If your interested there was a nice little write up by The Adelaide Review albeit back in 2015.

Google "The Adelaide Review Cliche Exhibition"

I will try and get a run down of what we may get as part of the fixed price/fixed menu on Thursday but based on last year there was no shortage and variety of quality food. Others that were there there on the night could also comment.

Have a 1998 Wendouree Cabernet Malbec. It’s an auction purchase so will try to organise a back up wine that fits the offline theme.

Looking at '88 reds to bring. Maybe 707, JR, Petaluma or HoG?
If others feel that they are too old, I have plenty of appropriate 98s. Even08s.

Had a 88 Yeringberg Cabernet on the weekend.
Fruit is fading a bit but still drinking well if you like them old.

I've got an 88 Wendouree Shiraz standing up ready to open.

To bad I'm not in Adelaide.

Cheers Con.

Still thinking about what I will take which will hopefully be a bit different to what's selected, leaning towards a 1998 Dead Arm Shiraz or Mt Langi Shiraz at this early stage but that could change radically... whatever it is, it will most likely be red and from 1998.

I'm tossing up between a 98 Petaluma Coonawarra or the 98 Rockford BP "Winemaker's Release" to do a comparison.

Which would people prefer?

Happy to, but you won't be there for the 11 May dinner. Is there another "in the works" when you arrive a week later?

I have to admit, I'm interested in a blind '98 vs '98 Winemaker's Release to see if people pick a favourite. I don't recall it being done like that before?

We could certainly do that at our offline and blind taste the 98 BP and Goerge's 98 Winemakers Release. That would be interesting.
