Potts Family Hermitage 1987 - Langhorne Creek

A friend has found one of these tucked away in dark cupboard.
Not a cellar but a fairly cool dark storage place.
Out of interest we'll add it to the wine list for our next sit down.
But in the meantime, does anyone have any info or experiences with this wine?

riesling, sav, gris, grenache, pinot noir & Indian night

Help again please friends!? Need a mix of wines for a banquet style dinner of Indian food mostly milder dishes to get the most out ot all the wines. I've read enough experiences here to be keen to take a riesling but don't own many so I don't know what to seek out that will be the right style. What ...

should we crack a 1986 Grange..? Now?

A friend has a well-stored 86 Grange and probably thought he would never drink it. I've been telling him it has to go down the hatch soon. Has anyone tried it recently? It's probably the only G he will ever drink and with no births or anniversaries in the near future I'm thinking "winter" ...

not good... not enjoyable... nothing much but dull straw on the nose. A hint of buttery characteristics but no fruit zing and a harshish bitter finish. Allan, now i'm curious (as a bit of a novice) what are just a couple from he "long list of things" that make a drink-now likely to be less...

i hate the idea of wasting a bottle of anything. It has to be opened when people are keen to drink it. That's the only reason it's not popped yet! We bought some 10yo Hunter Valley Semillon cleanskins on a tip from a friend and opened one of those and it was deemed too good for the event. It would g...

Jacob's Creek table variety Riesling 2002 (had to ask)

Only asking after finding an entire stray box stashed away in a corner. Would this cheapy get any better with the time it has spent hidden away. We are having an event and putting on a bunch of free beer and wine. Will open and see if it's ok to serve as the reisling (no wine buffs attending) Any c...

I think it's ordered rather than toiled over :-)
but I don't know if it's a traditional one. Maybe just one poor bird stuffed inside another but not the 3 or the full feast made for kings.

cheers for the thoughts so far.
and John, I like the idea of the 3 or 6 buys too.
Even in the couple years of collecting I've already found that having the 12 can make me skip over it in favour of something new as well as take up more room and too much $$
