WA attractions

Afternoon all,

After finishing a stint up in FNQ, I am now being shipped to Perth for 3 or 4 weeks and would like to know the locals knowledge on local attractions, i.e. good restuarants, decent waterholes, etc. etc.....

Cheers

Last night, a couple of us got together drank the following wines with a couple of slabs of Lindt ...

Had the opportunity to drink this last night, however as the bottle had been open since Thursday night, it showed a fair amount of oxidation. Golden in colour, with a slighly fortified or scotch nose with pears in background. Palate showed similar fruit, withstill a great deal of acid.... just a pit...

End of an era

As some of you may or may not have known, but my old shop, Porters Roseville was recently sold to Woolies and as of next week becomes yet another mass market First Estate, so no longer will they carry the imported and domestic range that made them one of Sydneys best shops (still biased yes....). Ha...

Mark,

I have had several of the '96 Greenock Cabernet and agree that they are crackers, a little underated maybe?? (especially when I bough the '96 at $15/bot.)

Christmas Day night. Usual gethering where my mates come round and drink the cellar, to which I usually regret on Boxing Day...... same this year! Started, after a few Pale Ales, with a '98 Petaluma Merlot , which was absolutely gorgeous. Last time I tried this wine was upon the release of the inden...

Greenock Creek Cabernet '96

First serious wine (i.e. above $20) that I have had in a long time (AA is allowing me to ween back onto the grog ) Very nice, and subtle. Lost lots of is raw oak and is now displaying a truly balanced wine. Ripe fruit and typically in style to Barossa Cabs, similar to Dorrien, Melton...... Look forw...

Insurance

Blake, Where I used to work in Sydney, we handled the claims for one of the bigger insurance companies. A lot of the time, people were only claiming for spirits etc. and only some wine. We would recieve the list from the insurers, quote them (at pretty much full retail) and the send them back. Gener...

'93 Yalumba Signature

Had this one last night over about 2 hours. Initially, somewhat fresh fruit and tight nose. Typical raspberries and other fruits of the forest. It then opened? up and lost all this primary fruit, revealing plums and cherries, cedar undertones, charry smoked flavours. It also become somewhat thinner ...

Didn't happen to get the UWC mailout did you??? I had one about 2 years ago and as I remember it, it was absolutely cr@p. It had been cellared properly etc. etc. Basically it was awfully tired and way past it's drinking span. This maybe contrary to some beliefs..... If I had the money I would go for...
