End of an era

Post by Seamus »

As some of you may or may not have known, but my old shop, Porters Roseville was recently sold to Woolies and as of next week becomes yet another mass market First Estate, so no longer will they carry the imported and domestic range that made them one of Sydneys best shops (still biased yes....).

Having said that, last night about a group of former employees and Sandy got together for a reunion. Cannot recall everything (still have a splitting headache  ) but here is what we drank:

'02 Dog Point Sauv Blanc - Very good indeed
'02 Villa Marie Res. Sauv Blanc - Overshadowed by the DP.
'01 Howard Park Cabernet - Definately too young!
'00 Vasse Felix Cabernet - Very pleasant.
'82 Vasse Felix cabernet - Great wine and stil standing high.
'91 Guigal Hermitage - Great nose, but a little lost/soft on palate.
'89 Beucastel Chateau nuef de pape - Classy wine.
'94 Wynns John Riddoch - Great wine, still needs time.
Also some '00 2nd Growth Bordeaux (and a sh!te load of Stella and Matilda Bay Premium).

Good night in all. Hopefully the shop won't lose it's identity too much.

Andrew

Andrew, it certainly was a good store but I thought that point 1 and point 2 were mutually exclusive.
Cheers
