Probably won't hurt chilling down some of those reds slightly too. Especially the 2002 RBJ Theologicum which comes in at bruising 16.5%

My +2 have bailed, but I'm still definitely going. LL has a massive Chardonnay tasting on today so while he may show up it's doubtful - that leaves the count at 11 (most likely):

I'm so sorry I'm not there, guys.

After arriving 20 minutes late to the last offline due to relying on a taxi, I figured I'd book a taxi a whole hour earlier than I needed it - 5:30pm - expecting it to be a bit late.

"Sure," they said. "No worries. See you then."

It's now 7:30-ish and the taxi still isn't here. I've been waiting two hours for it (they've been saying it's on the way... yeah, right!) and my wine is now warm, I'm hungry, I need a beer, and I'm thoroughly pissed off. I called the taxi company to cancel the booking, and I've been on hold for fifteen minutes...

Well, it looks like that taxi company won't be coming to my house any more!

The taxi got here eventually - at around 8pm - and the driver got angry when I said I didn't need to go anywhere any more, because I wanted to go there two and a half hours ago. He drove away and a few minutes later I got a phone call from the taxi company and we had a small argument (I may have mentioned that I was on hold for 30 minutes of the two and a half hours I was waiting for the taxi, and that I called at 11am today to avoid this in the first place), and then... well... I don't really know how it happened, but apparently it's not OK to complain about waiting hours for a taxi on a Friday night because they're very busy and it's summer and the taxi came and I didn't get in to it and I'm banned or some rubbish.

I hope everybody had a better night than I did!

That sucks Steve. Maybe it's time to consider getting public transport, or hitching a ride with someone else heading in. Who's the taxi company? That's a shocking attitude they have, and the least we can do is give them a bad name for this mess. :evil:

Sorry to tell you it was another great night - well, not really, but you get what I mean.

My thanks to everyone who came along and enjoyed this one - we only had 15 bottles between the 9 of us this time, but I think we made up for it with the food. :oops:

I'm still disappointed I wasn't there

How was the food? I was looking forward to trying it - I've heard some good things.

I can't easily get public transport... the nearest bus stop is on the South Eastern Freeway and a 25 minute walk away (and in the heat it's not a nice walk!), along a reasonably dodgy road with no foot path and a cliff on one side and a drop off on the other and the evening sun in driver's eyes. The bus stop is useless - busses travelling at 100km/h can't see the bus stop or people at it until it's almost too late to stop. I normally scheme a ride with someone but wasn't able to this time or last time

The taxi company... well, it isn't Suburban and it isn't Yellow!

I called the restaurant at about ten past seven and tried to pass on a message that I probably wasn't going to make it... I hope it got through okay and you weren't waiting for me.

Anyway, I'm sorry again everyone, but I'm glad you had a good night without me
