I have alot of 98 reds in my cellar and need some advice.
Which ones should be drunk when?
They are:
Wynns riddock cab sav 98
Wynns michael shiraz 98
Wynns cab sav 98
St Hugo cab sav 98
Richmond Grove Limited Release shiraz 98
Jacobs Creek Limited Release cab Sav 98

depends on how cool your cellar is and how many of each you have. I would suggest the Richmond Grove Shiraz is ready now....I presume this is the Barossa one. The Jacobs Creek should be ready now or very soon, followed by the St Hugo and the Wynns Black Label, although these two would see out another 10 years. The John Riddoch and Michael would be nowhere ready, and I wouldn't touch them for 5-8 years till they settle down.
However.......
If you have a dozen of each, it is good to try each of them now to monitor their evolution, and to see how they suit your own palate. Just because someone says to cellar for x years, doesn't mean they are not right for your own tastes now.

I agree with David. The Jacobs Ck Ltd Release cabernet 98 is drinking well now, it's not in the same longevity class as the $50 JC Limited Releases, hence around $20 price, so probably drink over the next 2-3 years.

Fatboy, the 98 JR ain't no 82 JR which is a stunningly great wine by any standard. Longevity will be a bit less IMO.
Guest, depends how your brothers bottles have been stored. If they are just kept in a house without proper cellaring conditions, I'd suggest they are both ready. If they have been in a cool cellar then another couple of years won't hurt.

My origional TN said "up to 15 years" and there is no doubt it has developed a bit faster than I expected by 10 years for a $23 wine isn't bad.

Will deffinatly try them both together 707. Should be an interesting Comparison for two of the same wine both from good vintages and both stored next to each other.
Interestingly last night we cracked a 96 yellow Label Wolf Blass Cab/Shiraz thats been in his fridge since release and i had been pressuring him to open this for the last 12 months as i thought it would be past its best given a} Its only a yellow b}Appart from Platinums and some Blacks Wolf Blass wines are usually medium term wines for the cellar at best. I must say it has probly been in its peek for a while but it was deffenatlly still there last night and we beleive that it probly had another 12 months there. I guess it shows that storing correctly at a temperature on the lower end of the scale will prolong a wines life. He has a 97 yellow which will be interesting to see if thats held up given the vintage. Also a 96 Grey Label Cab/Shiraz which on paper should long outlive the little brother yellow.
