Does anyone recall how many wines Wendouree offered this year? I’m abroad and making sure delivery correct.
Re: 2025 Wendouree Mailer
8 in total - Shiraz Mataro, Shiraz Malbec, Shiraz, Shiraz 24b, Malbec, Cabernet Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Muscat of AlexandriaJamieAdelaide wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 5:11 pm Does anyone recall how many wines Wendouree offered this year? I’m abroad and making sure delivery correct.

I’m up to the 2003 vintage! Just stood up one of each to try. Two decades away from trying the 2023’s

Scotty V, this is the eternal conundrum with Wendouree.JamieAdelaide wrote: ↑Thu Aug 14, 2025 9:42 amI’m up to the 2003 vintage! Just stood up one of each to try. Two decades away from trying the 2023’s![]()
Over 35 years, there were a few vintages where I just picked up the Shiraz, but since 1996, I have looked at least at getting the straight Cabernet and always the Pressings. Since 2006, think I have purchased everything.
I am actually interested now, in drinking a few younger wines and doing horizontals to see where all of these wines sit.
I do agree, Wendouree, despite the change of style, supposedly current releases being more approachable, needs 20 years. The 98 Shiraz I had in June was fantastic, and I think has another 5+ in it!
2023 might be a while away. I share my allocation with my son and give a bottle or two to a couple of close family friends, so I have perhaps 3 bottles of any particular wine, opening one early could be a first world problem!
Cheers Craig
Tomorrow will be a good day
Re: 2025 Wendouree Mailer
I had a 2006 Malbec last night. This is what I put on Winefront;
I opened the bottle early afternoon and let it sit but took a small sample. Ouch, at first. It was throwing a tannin tantrum up front and a distinct acid spine, but tonight all harshness had gone and what was left demonstrated how good Wendouree is when treated respectfully. Sophisticated, structured and savoury. All the intelligence a wine lover would hope to experience. Fruit still plays a role in the presentation but it is more about texture. And enjoyment. Best Malbec in Australia, but I am biased.

Nice look at that beautiful old label.
Last old Wendouree I had was a 77 Pressings last year with the late Mark Wickman. I’ve done a few dinners in Hong Kong with old 70’s Wendourees and a friend did a monumental, paid event over a few days. Worth reading - Fine Wine Experience.
I’ve stood up a Block 24b - not labelled as such - but one of a pair of magnums of 1990 Wendouree Shiraz magnums for the weekend.

Just in corks . I’m in my 30th year of professional cellaring and corks are perfect99% of the time. Showing as if the day they sealed! It’s breathtaking!
Having bought from European passive cellars and the worst scenario, Aussie passive cellars, there is no comparison. Corks will do another 30 years in perfect environments.

I’m still waiting, but only been on the list 10 years, red crayon.
Last few years haven’t really received much of anything I ordered. First 6 or 7 years I was lucky to get everything on my 18 bottle order, quite confused about the whole process.

Re: 2025 Wendouree Mailer
My credit card has finally been hit for about 70% of my order. But like you, I don't really understand how they do it - I've also been a red crayon for about 10 years.
Re: 2025 Wendouree Mailer
Yes, I am still waiting, green crayon.
Re: 2025 Wendouree Mailer
Thanks guys. I'm also red crayon for about a decade. Not complaining, love every bottle we get. Just checking in. Cheers!

Re: 2025 Wendouree Mailer
I have been on the list for 15+ years, card only got hit on Monday. Picked my order up yesterday, looked to be plenty of stock still there and they were still processing orders. I received everything I ordered, but no Malbec, as previously mentioned, sold out. I didn't order any 24B this year.

Why no 24B?

Too many wines this vintage! Seven six packs!
Think with this gloomy weather I’ll try the 1990 24b tonight. It’s only en magnum.

Re: 2025 Wendouree Mailer
Credit card got hit last Wednesday for what seems like about 85% of the order.
Should be delivered soon.
I'm starting to get to the point of having too much wine. Wendouree could be a casualty I think.

I appreciate all forms of alcohol, as long as its wine.
Re: 2025 Wendouree Mailer
Cc hit yesterday, just under half of my order.
Re: 2025 Wendouree Mailer
Was hit 2 days ago. Thanks Wendouree
Re: 2025 Wendouree Mailer
I am not quite sure, but I will think red crayon is more senior than green. I have only been on their waiting list for the last 4 years. I received my 1st allocation from Wendouree last year and this is my 2nd allocation. All the best everyone.

Re: 2025 Wendouree Mailer
Shiraz Malbec & Shiraz Mataro are very cheap at auction with 10 years of age plus. Buy them and cellar for another 10. They have unique complexity beyond 20 years! An important caveat is my experience is with
