Wow, what is that about $7K worth of wine? Arriving on the forum with a bang  ... welcome to the forum MBHB. Standish wines is a big favourite around here.
Was a bit bigger than a normal month that’s for sure, Sam.

Did a FIFO day trip to the Barossa for a tasting at Standish. They let us pre-order at the cellar door so I was lucky to get the Lamella etc locked in early on. Loved the 18’s last year so went hard at the 19’s and have found some back vintages online. Spending a bit of time with Nicole and Dan was pretty cool!

Only been collecting seriously for about 1-2 years so trying to catch up to those with more experience.

Thanks for the welcome. I’ve learnt a lot lurking around previously and look forward to contributing.

It was an online offer and it is either the 2017 or 2018 - I won't know till I pick it up from the store - C$28
Have you opened it yet and what's your take? I found their 2017 McLaren Vale Shiraz for C$30. Worth buying?

I have to admit I haven't opened it yet. It may be a one-off buy, curiosity, hoarding instinct and all that, but is is going into the cellar as I'm sure it is far too young to drink, I have a few older bottles of Grenache that are a little bit older that could use drinking, in particular a pair of Cimicky's 1998, a d'Arenberg's Custodian from 1996 and one from the late 2000s, a Tim Adams Fergusr from 1999 and a Bethany 2009.

I would imagine that given Yangarra's approach to their Grenache wine making I see no reason why their Shiraz shouldn't be good. The cellar price for the Old Vine Grenache is A$42 so I was happy to score a bottle for C$28. The Shiraz is A$35 at cellar door so $30 is a decent enough price and is worth a try.

Cheers ......................... Mahmoud.
