A mixed dozen of the Standish new releases...a substantial purchase for me but, had to laugh getting an email this week from Henschke (don't even subscribe) Mt Ed/HoR/HoG '16s at $225/415/895 ea. Dan's wines are a positive bargain compared to these

I'm desperately trying not to buy anymore red wines that need cellaring, however an occasional wine at a good price draws my attention and one such wine was Yangarra's Old Vine Grenache. It was an online offer and it is either the 2017 or 2018 - I won't know till I pick it up from the store - C$28

After missing out on the Lamella again, I plumped for two each of 'the Standish' and Eperosa 1896 Magnolia shiraz. Both from 2018.

The Condado de Haza is quite the find, it must be close to being one of the earliest vintages. I have a bottle of the 1999 so I am keen to hear about how it fares when you get around to opening it.

Another excellent online deal... Terra Vita Vinum - Anjou - Rogeries - Blanc - 2018 - 6 x

I am a fan of Loire Valley Chenin and an online review describes this as "full bodied and broad like a Mersault but without any oak" ... which has me intrigued.

I had the Tinto Pesquera 1995 (which is of course made by the same overall company) about 4 years ago and it was pretty good so I took the punt this label might be as well.

I have just had a look at their website to make sure I have the different labels straight in my mind and I am greatly saddened to see they have recently updated all of their labels to a new "modern" look ... a real shame since I loved the retro feel of their old labels which had hardly changed in over 20 years.

2019 Burgundy offer arrived in the Netherlands. Rousseau continues to climb - Le Chambertin is now going to be €850 a bottle, which means the auction prices will no doubt increase to €2000 plus.

I have decided to pass this year (and probably won’t be going back), but a friend, who has been collecting the wine for 15 years, has convinced me to put an order in, which he will pay for. Not sure if really counts as a purchase, but hey it’s in my name.

2 * 19 Rousseau Clos de Beze
2 * 19 Rousseau Le Chambertin
2 * 19 Rousseau Clos St Jaques
2 * 19 Grivot Richbourg
2 * 19 Grivot Exchezeaux
2 * 19 De Vougue Les Amoureuses

I expect this will be cur down to 1 of each, but you never know.

Interestingly my friend has now given up on his allocation of Le Grand Rue and the amount of Loire Cab Franc he is buying us increasing a lot.
This is my church, this is where I heal my hurts.

I used to get an allocation of Lamarche but I never saw much justification. I have a few LGRs before they got expensive. I think 09 and 10.
