I am stunned by how much bottle variation there is between taking a bottle out of the cellar and standing it upright the day before opening and drinking and opening a bottle the same day as taking it out of the cellar and drinking it. I have opened enough bottles from the same case over time to see a substantial difference.

Hi David. As noted previously the format (13 people/1 bottle each) does not really appeal to me so I am happy to step aside so someone else can participate. This is just a personal view (call me fussy) and I look forward to seeing the TNs after the night.

The 98 JR has now been earmarked for our birthdays in late May which are coincidentally one day apart. Will be booking a table at Chianti on Hutt St Adelaide. I'll post TNs.

Have a great night. Wines look sensational.

As per George's request and other positive feedback the 1998 Langi Shiraz will be the go (not the Dead Arm).

Nice way to kick off the evening Tony.

Given no one else has replied or pulled out I assume the remaining attendees are all good to go?

Hi all

Only 2 weeks before our Adelaide offline.

I now need to firm up final attendee numbers with the restaurant. I know some of you have recently confirmed but can I please just ask everyone again on the list below to now provide final confirmation and what wine or in some case wines (back ups) you have finally decided to bring along on the night.

Sorry to ask again but it been a long time since planning started and people are naturally busy and circumstances do change.

Mario (Tucker Wine Studio) x 1 - 1998 Wendouree Cabernet Malbec (auction purchase so a possible back up wine) - TBC
David x 2 - 1998 Rockford Basket Press or 1998 St Hallett Old Block (2nd guest wine still TBC)
Hunter x 1 - 2008 Greenock Creek Roennfeldt Road Shiraz or 1998 Pendfolds 389 (if 2008 RR doesn't suit) - TBC
George (Krashos) x 1 - 1998 Rockford Winemakers Release (TBC)
Scot (Scotty Vino) x 1 - 2008 Elderton Command Shiraz (TBC)
Jeff x 1 possibly 1988 Penfolds 707, 1988 John Riddoch , 1988 Petaluma or 1988 Hill of Grace (TBC) - possibly 1998 or 2008 options
Ian (n4sir) x 1 - 1998 Dead Arm or 1998 Mt Langi Ghiran (still TBC)
Adel (Trufflequeen) x 1 - 1998 Penfolds St Henri + 2008 Balnaves The Tally (as a back up)
Mark Jappe x 2 - 1998 Wynns Michael + 1 TBA (for Gail)
Tosta (Tony) - WIne TBA
Jason Barrette - Wine TBA

Can everyone please reply by Thursday 3rd June.

I will interested to read how this goes. The 2000 vintage was one of my top 5 wines last year.

Last week I saw Jason add a reminder about the offline into his phone, think you can just about count him as locked-in.

I have no idea what he's bringing though, he mentioned he had a few options... said he thought everyone would have been tired of trying the '08 Grange by now.

I'll be interested in the notes.

I've found 2008 South Australia to be very disjointed at the high end. Last night I had a 2008 Meschach which I found hard going. You guys drink a lot more 2008's than me so my negative experiences perhaps only my limited sample base.
