Cheers.
I had the 08 RR Shiraz at CD a couple of years ago. I hope it has tamed down a little, tbh I found it almost undrinkable, too alcoholic, massive wine. Ol' Whitey loves 'em though.

In my experience older wines can improve with breathing but can also fall over fairly quickly. Any assistance would be appreciated. Opening at home also allows for tainted wines to be pulled.

With the JR, I would decant a few hours before, wash the bottle, return the wine and lightly recork. If I was drinking it with only a few others, I would probably just decant on the night and savour the changes in the glass with time.
Wish I had an excuse to be in Adl that weekend, hang on, the off-line would be an excuse!!
Will be there this Easter weekend, couple of winemaking things to do, press our Maralinga Wine Society McLV grenache and maybe the brother's AH shiraz, both going through ferment atm.
