I'm going to bring a cab from a non cab associated Australian region I think. Sorry if that is too boring :)

I'm sure it'll be fine.

If anyone else wants to share what they'll bring and we can get an idea of what we'll be bringing. I have a bunch of weird shit in my cellar so I can chop and change.

No it's just de rigueur these days, people are super busy this time of year. I'm still in! Def a red and maybe a white, still deciding.

Bugger! Well if those who are still in could confirm it would be much appreciated as I need to confirm seat numbers for the restaurant. A general idea of what you're brining would also be helpful! :)

I might also bring an Ochota Barrels Botanicals of the Basket Range to kick off proceedings in lieu of a sparkling? I also got in some Ochota Gamay, which may be a bit more interesting than an Allouran or Massena?

Still in, Alex.

Will bring a Rondinella Corvina blend, and maybe an additional medium bodied red/white.

I'm still in and a bit stumped as to what to bring. Would prefer to bring something in a peak drinking age but I might have to go down the vinfanticide route.

Wouldn't worry too much, they have decanters available to help with anything too young.

I think Sipper can't make it either.

Okay guys I will call the restaurant and change the booking to make it 7 people tonight. If anyone wants to join in on the fun please drop a post here, we have the space.

I'll bring the two Ochota Barrels wines and a specially blended Seppeltsfield Grand Tawny to round things out. Both Ochota's are sold out completely so if you wanted to try some fascinating wines this

Hey guys, I am really sorry for the late withdrawal but I am not going to be able to make it tonight. Was looking forward to saying g'day Alex and hearing about how your travels have been going. Hopefully catch up in the not too distant future.

Also I will call the Restaurant now and confirm 7 people, but I'm sure it's very easy to change it to 8 people if there's someone who wants to join/rejoin at the last minute.

My picks were the Jamsheed Cab Franc and Oggi white blend. The Lindemans Shiraz and Lucy Margaux Pinot were also good, although I wish the latter had just a bit more oomph.

Unfortunately the Leo Buring was oxidised, the D'Arenberg was a bit too tannic and the Brash Higgins NDV had some weird rubbery reductiveness going on, but every other wine was enjoyable in its own right.

Most interesting wine for me was probably the Ochota Botanicals of the Basket Range.

I thought the food at Rubyos was good, although the portions were a bit on the small side. But for the price no real complaints.

Great night, looking forward to the next one when I return from Indonesia in February!

yep good night, enjoyable conversation as always. Some really interesting wines, the Ochota Botanicals was off the dial for interest, wacky back story and all the great things about being a small winemaker and having a bit of fun.

Food started off a bit meh, but I think they redeemed themselves in the end, considering as you say $45 is a bargain.

Off for some more drinking!! Haven't stopped since Friday night.
