I went large on the bourbon barrels JC. That's going to be a big earner in the investment market :D

I'm sure there's something interesting I can dig up.

OK, here are the numbers so far...
Me + 1
Matt +1
Ross
Redstuff +2
PDG

Lucky I booked for 8 people. Redstuff, I will do final numbers on Monday and speak to the restaurant but I wouldn't have thought an additional person is going to be too much trouble.

It was a great night. Nine people some greta wines. I ducked out early to go and do some work but my favourites were the 2008 Donnhoff Slate Dry Riesling and the 2003 St Henri but there were a heap of gooduns

Ooh, errr....my head.

Top night. Good to meet some new folks. Some interesting wines. In the cold sober light of day here's my reflections:

Donnhoff Tonschiefer Riesling Dry Slate 2008 - Good wine but needed other whites for comparison. Nice RS but not over the top.
Clonakilla 2011 Ceoltoiri - the pepper in this wine became more pronounced as the night wore on. Licorice, a touch of jubey goodness and stacks of white pepper (maybe too much?) . This is a wine to watch.
Campbells The Barkly Rutherglen Durif 1998 - Love a good durif expecially when the alcohol doesn't show. Top shelf durif.
Carpinetto Sillano Toscana 2004 - can't recall much about this wine.
Cavaliere Rosso Toscano 2004 - Interesting. raisined and kind of reminded me of an Amarone style wine (Joseph Moda) from our last outing at Beijing House.
Penfolds St Henri Shiraz 2003 - V. Nice. Can't see much more upside to it though.
Penfolds St Henri Shiraz 1999 - drying tannins and a good contrast to the 2003. Drink up.
The Flower and the Bee La Flor y la Abeja Treixadura (Spain) - 2010 or 11 from memory. Low acid made from the Souson grape. Streak of honey or honeycomb through it , capsicum, bell peppers? Not my style (I brought it and wanted a second opinion). Wondered if it was stewed?
Chateau Fonreaud, Listrac-Medoc Cru Bourgeois 1996 - lead pencil (not Staedtler HB but lead pencil nonetheless). Reasonable for a Cru Bourgeois.
Penfolds Bin 138 Old Vine GSM 2002 - good wine. Coconut on the nose? American Oak?
Pertaringa The Full Fronti NV Muscat a Petit Grains - Loved this.
Dutschke Oscar Semmler Shiraz 2003 - probably needed more time with bottle open. Very reticent. Not much action on the nose. My palate might have been stuffed at this point - I wasn't getting much from it. Would have liked to see this the next day.
Wild Duck Creek Estate Springflat Shiraz 2003 - Nail polish remover/varnish - stuffed :( Trying to get past it I thought that there might have been nuances of christmas cake, chocolate and rum balls. This wine could have been huge...

Hope you all made it home safely?

Cheers
Matt
