The most interesting thing I had this week was a Balnaves Cab Sav 1998 This wine is nearing it's peak, still a very dark crimson lighter slighty on the rim. an evolved nose of earthy, leathery, baked fruit and touch of menthol. similar notes on the palate, silky smooth tannins with a moderate finish...

nearly opaque, menthol, dark fruit and chocolate cake on the nose.
figs, stone fruit and something like andie's candies, decent tannins.
good finish, all around good wine that gives the impression it will age at least 10 years.

Medium Garnet color, lighter slightly orange rim. allspice, garden flowers and cherry nose. fresh meat with berries, sharp acid and strong tannins, medium/full body, ok finish. Perfect for many types of food, not sure where this wine is going, I have 3 left pondering if I should drink up or hold. go...

Several states have gone through the courts thanks to the Free the Grapes movement. I THINK Florida has recently deemed it unconstitutional. how long it will take for accual law to be passed is another thing.
