I received 2 magnums of 1999 Classic Clare Shiraz as a bonus with a mixed case of Bin 56 and Bin 61 about this time last year. The 1 magnum I opened (last year) was horribly corked, but could also have been brett affected. Leasingham (kindly/obligatedly - if that's a word) replaced it with 2 bottles...

I was passing by BWS (in the local shopping centre) the other day and saw a customer drop a case of this on the floor and smashed quite a few of them. The sales person didn't blink and let him pick another one, no problems.

The cost of these to BWS must be really, really low.

Yeah I think I am better off down here. My in-laws also live in Townsville but are at the Commonwealth games. It took my brother-in-law over 3 hrs to clean up their backyard. I can't believe that I actually miss Townsville bottle shops. The range in Maryborough is pretty ordinary and most of the bot...

Have you had the Skillogalee Shiraz lately, and if so how is it travelling? You can pick it up as a cleanskin at the moment.

2001 Yalumba Signature - simple, muted, thin, short. Dissapointing. Upon reflection I suspect low level cork taint. Normally I can pick TCA upon opening but couldn't tell with this bottle. It was still drunk by the pissheads at the table despite them saying it was ordinary. More 2002 Seppelt Origin...

No good at tasting notes, so brief impressions: Seppelt Original Sparkling Shiraz 2002 - Thought it was dry and savoury initially but did seem a bit sweeter when retasting after the Elderton. This is the perfect drink for the Townsville summer coming up (if the airconditioning fails). Must get more....

Saw an episode of Frasier on the plane the other day. Mike, Did you look at the full results. Jim Barry Lodge Hill Shiraz came in last in the Shiraz tasting , narrowly beaten by 2001 Howard Park Scotsdale Shiraz. On-line ordering etiquette and low prices

I was wondering what the etiquette is with on-line ordering (wine or otherwise) where there is a price advertised which is so low that it probably is an error. Do you: a) contact the retailer first to confirm the price b) order and hope that you get it for the advertised price but willing to cancel ...
