Each Friday at 4.00pm its beer time at work, time for 2 stubbies and some chips shared amongst co-workers winding down for the week.
I would like to turn my fellow workers around to drinking wine instead but don't think I will be very succesful.
What about everyone else, are their co-workers into wine and do you share a bottle on a regular basis ?

Funnily enough we have some building services guys who do all the major construction and they are very much into wine! I slowly, but definitely, force my work colleagues to appreciate wine. This does not seem to be a hard thing to do as: 1) it is alcohol, and 2) wine seems to be generally trendy.
Over the past 12 months, my work colleagues now "appreciate" wine and look forward to my standard bottle opening ceremony on Fridays... and sometimes, many times, during the week around 5pm.
I am now being given cash now and then from colleagues for my trouble, and am always on the look out for good value for money wines with which to increase the wine appreciation of my work colleagues... such as the Auswine # 2 Shiraz.

We have regular Friday drinks at work. There is wine around but it doesn't get opened much during Friday night drinks.
I won't open a bottle unless someone else is having any or the partners offer.
For the guys - a couple of light beers before driving home, or many heavy beers if going out. Vodka Cruisers for the girls who outnumber the guys 3 to 1. There are also spirits lying around.
By the way, the wine cabinet in the boardroom consists of:
- a few bottles of 1998 Jacobs Creek Reserve shiraz (last one opened was horribly corked - people were willing to drink the corked one before I tipped the bottle down the sink )
- a few bottles of 1998 Jamiesons Run red
- a few bottles of Tatachila Breakneck Creek somethingorother
- a bottle of 1993 Bin 128
- a bottle of 1994 Reynella Basket Pressed Shiraz - this might get opened by mistake - I mean't to open the Jacobs Creek - I swear!
Has anyone got any impressions on this?
A few weeks ago someone was given as a prize a bottle of Rosemount BJ92 red. I couldn't get him to open it up out of curiosity.
The partners have other cases of wine lying around but were ordered to move them out of the server room, which is the only room that has constant airconditioning here in Townsville.

I have never tried to convert someone into wine. They drink what ever they like. On the fortunate side of wine, 2 of the people I work with are all wine collectors and have a very reasonable size of cellar. We share a cellar together. We discuss wine almost on a daily basis and we purchase wine together.
Most people at work call us the 3 muskteers and I have tasted some great wine othewise I probably will never been able to taste if i was on my own.

And would you stand and watch an expolsion at a nuclear power plant out of curiosity?
The 1994 BJ (which I tried) was already toxic in 1999. The same wine at 12 years doesn't bear thinking about...
