For some reason the link you gave to the specialist food shops in Turin doesn’t work on this site, unfortunately.

Re: Anyone travelling to Italy this year?

Hi Ian Thank you for all your recommendations. Always been impressed how helpful you have been in freely providing advice, information on wineries, restaurants etc. to all of us who due to distance have limited opportunities to travel often in Europe. We are staying a bit further north than you in P...

If anyone knows of any decent restaurants in Sydney still doing BYO I’d appreciate hearing about them.

Re: Wine Cellar inventory tools

But Cellartracker is a fabulous tool, for any readers out there who are considering how to keep track of their inventory. It's also a pretty good one-stop-shop for wine ratings with fabulous community input. Couldn't agree more. Have been part of cellar tracker for nearly a decade, before that exce...

You're right, they are mine - had sort of written them off. In my haste to ensure I got the ferry home forgot about the glasses. Thanks for looking after them. Will pm to work out getting them back.

Good night - couple of superlative nebs. Will write up as well.

Cheers

Re: Barolo and Barbaresco Dinner. 4 May

Ok let's kick this one off. Who's up for a Barolo and Barbaresco Dinner on 4 May. Max 12. I'm in. I am also suggesting May as these wines pair best with pasta and other Italian comfort foods. The venue is now the Larder at W Wharf. 1 Rooman - 1997 Produttori del Barbaresco Riserva Pajé 2 Red Smurf ...

One option could be to substitute the prawns dish with the mushroom risotto . Much better fit with the nebs.

Re: Barolo and Barbaresco Dinner. 4 May

Why not a Barbaresco and a Barolo .

1996 Produttori de Barbaresco Reserva Montestefano ( should be interesting to add to Produttori vertical)

2000 Elio Grasso Barolo Reserva Runcot

Looking forward to a great night of neb. Any idea what the menu looks like?

Thanks for the update felixp on the 2013 burgs. Think I'll wait for the 2014s which seem to have more red fruit and depth. The Faiveley sounds good too.

Re: Glassware

Hats off to PaulV who carried his Zalto Burg in a soft bag with no fears of it breaking.... Not bad eh! One easily fits into my soft leather satchel and over the past year never had a problem. Maybe if I put 2 in there could be trouble. Nevertheless I am convinced they are bloody tough. One of my Z...

Re: Burgundy Offline Sydney

Excellent night - good company, lots of discussion and not a dud burgundy to be found. Thanks Polymer for organising. Some short notes on the wines: 2004 Pol Roger - this is drinking very well at the moment in fact much more friendlier than the 2002 at present.Quite full bodied with nuts and brioche...

Just pulled a 2008 Paul Pillot Chassagne Montrachet 1er la romanee and a 2003 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey Chambertin 1er Lo Goulots from the cellar - should go well with seafood and duck.

See you at 7 - who's name is it under?

Re: Casual Pinot Offline 1 Oct - Sydney

Interesting to see a Foillard Morgon in the midst. What year and how did it come up - I presume a bit light , fruity and crunchy compared to the bigger style pinots. Probably needs 10 years for the gamay fruit to start smelling/ tasting like a decent village burg.

Just to add another positive experience from TWE thanks to Sparky . On NYE to celebrate we opened a bottle 1992 Penfolds Grange with friends to find it seriously corked, so much so that it was "nil in mouth" type territory. Moira arranged for a styrofoam box to be sent to our house. We dul...

Re: First wine cabinet - Kitchener Peltier 284

Another satisfied kitchener cabinet - 464 bottle - buyer - now 3 years old and going as good as the day i got it. Can be a bugger getting wines out if they are in back stalls but if you ensure that those wines to be seriously cellared are put to the back, then not a problem.
