Re: Langton's new web site

Complete disaster Takes forever to compile a watchlist, then once you go to your watchlist you cant even click on the bottle to get details and a decent sized photo. Half bottles only show as half bottles when you click on the wine when your browsing but show as just "bottle" once its in y...

Re: NWR - Are You Fastidious or Fussy about things other than Wine?

I'm no great shakes as a cook, but I hate hot food on cold plates. When I do bacon and eggs for the wife and kids on these cold winter Sunday mornings I don't just heat the plates, I heat the cutlery as well. Also, there's one best way to pack a dishwasher. Cutlery especially. Learn it! man I get y...

Re: Has anyone drunk the 2010 St Henri lately?

had the 09 recently, was gobsmacked at how oaky it was
cant imagine it would have settled down with another 10 yrs, but never know
the fruit was nice and juicy, but seemed like the oak was already knocking it down.
There is no way that was 50yr old casks unless they added chips to it.

Coming from someone also in Adelaide, it's extremely unusual for an Adelaide passive cellar to be humid enough to result in cellar mould, we just don't have the continuous humidity for it compared to the eastern states. I am specifically referring to passive cellars here, not commercial wine storag...

Yes sediment is fine. But I will say this...mini soapbox... Where are you based? I reckon attending a few offlines will do you a world of good. It is the absolute best way to learn about wines, understand wines and get experience with older wines. (and different styles). A 98 389 would have been a ...

If only one, a Zalto Universal. :D

Also, you might put in your max bid on a lot that goes way higher than another lot for a lesser price
This is not a rare occurrence and the only way to play this is to be bidding in the final minutes

Got say that the couple of times I've Selosse it's been just ok, it's not style I like. Good to hear the Voyager's traveling well, got a couple of these in the cellar somewhere. Cheers Con. Hi Con, I have a number of Selosse, and on the whole I love his style, so distinct to the other producers, an...

It really shits me what these massive companies get away with when it comes to warranty.
And not because I want to do it too, quite the opposite, I fixed things out of warranty x2 or more just because of how long it SHOULD last

I think if you could do a scientific experiment of this situation with a placebo wine, no one would ever tell any difference. If anything, get a roll of regupol or other equivalent sound insulation covering and lay it down on the floor from wall to wall. If you want to go the whole hog then tack it ...

2003 Petaluma Hamlin Hill Riesling - probably the best of all the Hamlin Hills I’ve had to date. The lime fruit is just delicious, it’s had some development with age but retains a beautiful purity, with really good concentration but the acid keeping it in check and not allowing it to become overdone...

But agree with you it was very good, not too young, will go on for yonks but showing really well now
Which I was surprised at given the age and screwcap
The 1927 vines screwcaps are still way way too young even with 5 years more age on them
