I called them last week to make sure my form was received. They'd had it back for at least 10 days and mentioned they were still processing forms.

Credit where it's due - Langton's have really got their act together in relation to logistics and delivery based on my recent experiences.

Re: Returning a Faulty Wine

Good for you Diddy. One question, do you know if it was the credit card company who, on their own, gave you the credit/refund, or was it the retailer who, to be fair, in the first instance apologized and asked you to return the bottle. Mahmoud. I'm not sure whether the merchant agreed to the charge...

Re: Returning a Faulty Wine

Diddy, I just noticed that your location states Melbourne but presume you aren't there otherwise you would have visited the retailer instead of writing, phoning, and mailing. I'm also inclined to agree with Sam regarding the charge-back. Cheers ................ Mahmoud. Yes, I'm in Melbourne as wel...

Re: Returning a Faulty Wine

I am surprised you can use a charge back process... the argument a corked wine is "not as described" is a bit tenuous I would have thought. But I definitely think sending back half a bottle is a pretty fair sign the wine was not drinkable even though its not the full bottle. "Consume...

Re: Returning a Faulty Wine

You can quote to them the ACL...and raise a case with the ACCC....I'm not sure this will apply but there are some agencies where even a complaint costs these companies money if the agency takes it on, even if they're right. That said...Being unsure about the problem and the bottle half empty...plus...

Re: Penfolds Red Wine Clinic - Effect on Auction Prices

I would have thought the wine being opened and tasted by a Penfolds winemaker would serve as a fairly invaluable data point as to the wine's condition whereas the non-PRWC bottle still has the inherent risk of being a dud - despite how well cellared it may have been.

FWIW, my running theory is that Wendouree fill orders on a rotating state-by-state basis with a preference or priority to orders with straight case selections (to avoid making up mixed cases). Thoughts?

Re: Is there any advantage to buying wine duty free?

I've used the TRS option a handful of times without any issues - always seems to come out better than buying at the airport (for table wines). Only disadvantages are you need to spend more than $300 at the one shop within 60 days of travel. Additionally, you have to check the wine into your luggage ...

Re: What are the characteristics of a quaffer?

My definition of a quaffer is something that doesn't have any intrinsic 'collectability' - generally a combination of scarcity, critical acclaim and/or potential upside from cellaring. Another important factor is a wine that will appeal to people who enjoy drinking wine, but don't care much for the ...

It does say in that paragraph further down that product does need to be in a saleable condition. That said, the manager did refuse to accept the return as she said they buy them at auction... Unless you're a Rockford tragic, wouldn't it be easier to just pick up the exclusive wines on the secondary market - they seem to be readily available. Interesting Diddy, I see at Wickham's 2015 BP at $126 with a guide of $140+ so the October Stonewaller flippers are hoping to double their $69 a bo...
