Interesting to see how Head Wine's 2013 vintages of the Ancestor and Old Vines Grenache's compared in cellaring despite their advertised cellaring/drinking windows.

I really enjoyed the '13 Old Vines recently, brilliant. Makes me wonder if should be drank youngish ...or leave it longer ...

Re: Penfolds St Henri Shiraz

Peter Gago is a lot about promotion of the Penfolds brand, but in his defines, he made it quite clear at the launch of the Bin range earlier in the year in front of literally hundreds of industry folk that he was not entirely happy with the (high) prices of recent years. But he would be happy with ...

Was in Helsinki, Finland couple years ago, spotted a Bar selling Coopers Pale Ale Stubbies for 12 Euros for 375ml Stubby....while average price for pint of local beer was roughly 7-9 Euros. Following night went to a local restaurant, they had Jacob's Creek Shiraz for 32 Euros, while the bottleshop d...

So do restaurants get offended if you turn up with your own glassware? Depends what kind of place it is, and how understanding Management/Front of the House staff are which is rare these days as they are mostly students or people doing second jobs, more likely they'll think you are a f__king wanker...

2003 Petaluma Coonawarra Cabernet Merlot OK, average. Not as good as the '98 and '99 vintages. So looking at the tasting notes, forget about my few bottles of '06 Noon Cab Sav for other 5-10 years? Try one in 5 years and see how it goes and taste again in decade?

Last time opened one of my Noon's was 2003 Reserve Shiraz.
