Re: Best Shiraz and Riesling under $25
I will nominate the Gemtree Uncut 2006 we opened this evening for a very very honourable mention. Great bouquet and power with best day ahead I would think Nice call on Gemtree. I'd forgotten about them, I must admit I enjoyed a tasting at their cellar door once. However, they are touting the 2008 ...

Best Shiraz and Riesling under $25
Whilst the need to drink fantastic wine grows, the budget for said wine dwindles. Current varietals in my good books are Shiraz and Riesling.

Re: Most beautiful labels
My vote is for the Vigneto Valeirano - portrays a wine with strong character yet subtle detail. A wine not to trifle with. Delheim on the other hand must be creating a superb late harvest wine and not much of it. Their label is trying to scare people away so that only those in the know will actually...

Re: Langhorne Creek and Fleurieu Peninsula (minus McLaren Vale)
Seen Bleasdale come up a few times here. Was bitterly disappointed with their wines. It's apparently the 2nd oldest family winery in the country. The vines look old, regal and healthy on the way in, but what I tasted in the cellar door was bit of a let down. Guess you gotta go and check it for yours...

Re: Langhorne Creek and Fleurieu Peninsula (minus McLaren Vale)
Hey, I'd like to put in a massive plug for the victory hotel on the highway at sellick's beach. When last we were there we were really enjoyed the absolutely amazing food, great atmosphere and amazing cellar (and all at very good prices inc $50 for a 1996 oliver's taranga shiraz which was in great ...

Re: When do the bottles in the wardrobe go to a cellar?
Stage 1: get a decent wine fridge for the house.
Stage 2: get a 2nd decent wine fridge for the house.
Stage 3: when both fridges are overflowing, put all the stuff in storage and start again.

Re: Wine fridge cellaring temp and other settings
We have a collection of Chateau Belair 00 through to 05. The Chateau cellar caves are a constant 11c all year so that is what we keep our fridge at. Sorry can't tell you humidity in their caves but 70% seems about right from the feel of the place when you are in them. If it's good enough for them it...

Thanks griff. I'll put them in the diary. Seems the good food and wine show has one in most major cities June through July.

Re: A new decade, Jan 2010 - What have you been buying?
Well this is most of it I think. I'm pretty awful at keeping records. Pretty much all of the below have been consumed already - yikes. All years are the latest vintage unless otherwise stated. All are Tasmanian as that is the state our travels take us to this month. Frogmore Creek Pinot Frogmore Cre...
