The 2002 Ployez Jacqumart is fantastic.I had it week. $80 Canadian. For the person who had the Cristal and was underwhelmed, Wine & Spirits gave it 100 points!! It must be good!! :) Rick

Re: Hunter Valley Semillon + Age = Awesome-o

Here in Canada we have the 2003 Vat 1. It went up in price $20 compared to the 2000. Is it worth buying? As a side note, Rick Burge makes an amazing Semillon from Barossa that can age for years as well. Half the price of Vat 1!!

Re: TN: The Penfolds Bin Series Releases at Magill Estate 6/

Any thoughts on the 2007 Bin 389 - now available in our market? I stocked up on the 2006 and I am wondering if the 2007 is as good? Thanks - Rick

Grosset Pinot Noir 06 or 07?

Hi all, Glad to see the note on the 07. The 2006 Pinot is one of the finest I have ever had from Aussie. Has anyone tried the 06 and 07 side by side and if so which should I buy a few of? The wine store I work in has both vintages. Thanks - Rick

St Henri 2006

Hi all, Any thoughts on this new release? Just came in to Canada and is $51 Canadian. I have seen it on some sites $75 Aussie!! Our store here in Winnipeg only got 5 bottles to sell. I bought one just because I recently had the 2002 and it was outstanding!! I know the 2006 Bin 389 has recieved some ...

2003 Nine Popes

Put on a tasting for dentists last night and the hit of the night was the 2003 Nine Popes. ($50.00 Canadian) Eveyone loved the plush fruit and lack of harsh tannin, just soft and velvety in the mouth. A close second was the Massena Eleventh Hour Shiraz 2004 ($55.00 Canadian). Much more interesting t...

Bin 28

I've said it before and I will say it again, we get screwed over the Penfolds here in Canada. All the Bin wines are the same price. Bin 389, 407, 28 128 are all $35.00 Canadian. There are so many other wines cheaper, or made in smaller quantities that interest me more I almost never buy Pennies any ...

Massena

We sell two Massenas here in Winnipeg, Canada, The 11th Hour and the Moonlight Run (GSM blend). Both 2004 vintages. Right now I think the Moonlight Run is drinking better but the 11th Hour should, in the long run be the better wine from the cellar. Thanks - Rick

Prices

Here in Canada all the Bin wines are the same price. 389 $36.00 Canadian, 407 $35.00, 28 $34.00. I am always amazed at the differences in Aussieland. Does this mean I should stock up on 389 as it is a bargain? Or is it that the others are way overpriced? For example Majella Cab is $39.00, St Jakobi ...

Kilikanoon Killerman's Run S.B./Semillon 2004 - Help!!!

Hi all, I am putting this wine in a Bordeaux blends tasting on Friday March 2/07 and I can find nothing on the internet about this wine. Even their website does not admit to them making this wine. Shaw Smith 2004 Shiraz

Have you every had the 2004 Shaw Smith Shiraz? We have some in our wine store but as yet no one has tried it. Just because of how good the Chard is I picked up a couple but they are still resting in my cellar.

2005 Rose

We have the 2005 here in Canada and we received only two cases. It is harder to get than the Nine Popes!! It is without a doubt the besr rose I have ever had. Also the darkest in color, almost Pinot-like in color. Well worth the $22 Canadian.

Scores

Here is another point of view. Do you score the wine as if it is the best it could ever be, or how good it is relative to "the perfect wine"? For example, if you taste a great bottle of Grange and you cannot think of a better wine you give it 100 points. But what about a great white Zinfan...

Which vintage of the Montes Alpha Syrah did you have? We still have the 2000 here in Canada and when I last tasted it a few months ago it was very old world in style, lots of bacon, raw meat, saddle leather. Very Cote Rotie - like. Thanks - Rick

Wow, Prices for these wines are much different here in Canada. All of the wines (389, 128, 28,407) are prices nearly exactly the same; $34 Canadian. I guess then that the 389 is the one to buy.
