Two absolute standout reds for me.
1998 Tenuta dell Ornellaia "Masseto"
2004 Tenuta dell Ornellaia "Masseto"
Drank both at the same time, side by side. Sensational!

Agree with guest I too would be suspect on these pressured "quick decision needed" situations. I have received phone calls in the past, the person trying to sell wine as an investment with the usual, we'll store it for you, american market will buy this for double, blah blah blah...... "but you need...

Thanks Allan. Sounds like it might be worth a throw, though the 5 year prospect seems a little bit cautious. The '99 is probably a 15-20 year wine. You can quote me on that What do you think, as far as cellaring is concerned, for the 2003? The 99 is a suberb wine. unfortunately I drank my last one ...

Agree about La Vigna It's a family run business and they really know their stuff. Very good at helping you pick wines that are very good, but lesser known, which means more affordable that the well known names. That being said they have most of the big names in their stock as well and you should be ...

Curiously my last bottle of 83 Moss Wood Reserve was undrinkable. 100% corked; shot to pieces. Pity about the Moss Wood 83. Had one at the end of last year and it was an absolute beauty! My first experience with an aged Aust wine that was a memorable experience. As Danny said....... I am now hooked...

Being the self appointed driver of the night, I mainly went for the top end wines and “cherry picked†at some other wines. Being relatively new at this sorta stuff, and finding it difficult to detect the wines aromas in public gathers with perfume and after shave wafting around...

Perth: Coonawarra Annual Roadshow
Anyone heading to the Coonawarra Annual Roadshow being held in the Hyatt this evening?
From 5:30 - 8:30 pm. $25 per person. Casual Format. 18 producers from Coonawarra will be showcasing their current release and some barrel samples.
Should be interesting.

Interesting topic...... I have always found the taller / slimmer bottles being used for reds recently to be slightly annoying. They don't seem to fit onto wine racks or most of my storage boxes too well. I do like the "wide shoulders" that Rockford used for its recent basket press and cab sauv. It j...

Still undecided. Don't know if I should go for a sub $20 day to day wine or something a bit more special. No dinners planned for this weekend...... which makes it harder to "justify" opening something special. Choices so far - Yarra Burn Shiraz Viogner 02 - St Hallets Gamekeepers 02 - Chestnut grove...

Dave I was a the Cellar Press tasting. You were informative and very obliging. The guy that handles the De Bertoli is always a fav of mine. Humourous, and very passionate about his wines. Always a smile on his face. Some of the others are basically waiters. Not much response from them, no smile and ...

Okay, here's what i did Opened a bottle of Cullens Ellen Bussel, poured a generous glass for my self and poured the remainder equally into 2 half bottles. Put corks in the bottles and put them straight into the freezer. They froze completely within a few hours. Several days later, got my wife to pul...

Great thats 4 of us in on the trial. Anyone else what to put their hand up? Simm If you are going to be filling the bottle all the way up to the top, then freezing, won't there be problems with the bottle exploding / cracking? Or maybe wine does not expand as much as wine? I'll be trying to do the e...

Unless there are some that have tried this and found it to be a waste of time....... Why don't 5 of us experiment and report back. I'm in. As my palate is relatively inexperienced to some of the board's elders, I might not be able to detect as smaller variances. I'll try and be as accurate as possib...
