Re: 2009 Wines of the Year

Two absolute standout reds for me.

1998 Tenuta dell Ornellaia "Masseto"
2004 Tenuta dell Ornellaia "Masseto"

Drank both at the same time, side by side. Sensational!

Agree with guest I too would be suspect on these pressured "quick decision needed" situations. I have received phone calls in the past, the person trying to sell wine as an investment with the usual, we'll store it for you, american market will buy this for double, blah blah blah...... "but you need...

yep, its very ordinary. Dropped my subscription.

I guess the only way to revive the magazine from it's flat sales is to produce something that wine lovers will find interesting..... Basic concept, I know, but it looks like they have missed this key point

I use the Schott Zwiesel as well, the Audrey range. Nice, fine rims. Good weight to the glass as very durable.

Only trouble is trying to find it in Aust. Only ever seen it once at David Jones, don't think they stock it anymore.

Thanks Allan. Sounds like it might be worth a throw, though the 5 year prospect seems a little bit cautious. The '99 is probably a 15-20 year wine. You can quote me on that What do you think, as far as cellaring is concerned, for the 2003? The 99 is a suberb wine. unfortunately I drank my last one ...

Agree about La Vigna It's a family run business and they really know their stuff. Very good at helping you pick wines that are very good, but lesser known, which means more affordable that the well known names. That being said they have most of the big names in their stock as well and you should be ...

Thanks for the tasting note. I agree that it is drinking very well at the moment. It does seem to disappear very quickly when there's a few over.

Curiously my last bottle of 83 Moss Wood Reserve was undrinkable. 100% corked; shot to pieces. Pity about the Moss Wood 83. Had one at the end of last year and it was an absolute beauty! My first experience with an aged Aust wine that was a memorable experience. As Danny said....... I am now hooked...

Perth: Coonawarra Annual Roadshow

Anyone heading to the Coonawarra Annual Roadshow being held in the Hyatt this evening?

From 5:30 - 8:30 pm. $25 per person. Casual Format. 18 producers from Coonawarra will be showcasing their current release and some barrel samples.

Should be interesting.

Thanks for the tasting Note.

Tried this one start of this year. New with Barolos so was not quite sure to expect. But is was very easy to drink! :P

I do find with most Italian wine, the palate at the front is not as obvious as the sides and back.

Interesting topic...... I have always found the taller / slimmer bottles being used for reds recently to be slightly annoying. They don't seem to fit onto wine racks or most of my storage boxes too well. I do like the "wide shoulders" that Rockford used for its recent basket press and cab sauv. It j...
