Where is value located in premium NZ red? Have just bought some Te Mata Bullnose as an entry into NZ Syrah to test the waters. At $45 seems OK QPR if it all its cracked up to be.

Re: Case of wine

J, why these wines? And can you secure the 04 St Peters? Voyager, Because I'm a WA boy and I like MR CS, good reviews and their 03 Shiraz is awesome(Not normally as big a fan of MRS). Crozes, I love Rhone wine and 03 was supposed to be a good vintage for the North Rhone and again good reviews from ...

Welcome Alex, My experience was along similar lines to start with. In my mid twenties start drinking whites and the odd bottle of cheap red. Then late twenties started to earn a little more money and started trying the odd bottle of red with a little more oomph. Started to think there might be somet...

Serge, Yes. Could be a cultural thing but when replies end in "sport" and "throw a boulder at my glass wall" in Oz it normally indicates some sort of defensive reaction with the intention of causing a offensive position. I was merely questioning if that was the intended tone of t...

Regarding your commentary on the idiosyncrasies of Australasian citizens from your home in the US of A. Something about glass houses springs to mind

Grab them.
Had a Clonakilla lat night. Excellent wine. Just got better and better as it continued to open. Amazingly distinct apricot tart smell. Glad I have another 5.
Check out torbwine for reviews of Aberfeldy. Very highly rated.
Out of interest, what do they sell for in UK?

Sue, Blown away by how good they are. Distribution is a bit of a problem on the westcoast for the smaller wines. Got them sent from NZ by otago wine. Really nice to see some diiferent stuff and some current release stuff. Have only been into CO PN for a couple of years as prior to that drinking most...

Pierro has always been known for its full blown chardi. Been pegged back a little in recent years but one of the more buttery chardis from down south. Price is up there though!

Yes its critical of Aussie Shiraz. I love Geoffs site. Its very hard to find detailed tasting note on a lot of NZ Pinot and Syrah releases and as there is so many great wines coming out of there it is a wonderful to have a heads up but, he is too harsh of the Aussie reds. In the same way I love a go...

I too drink mostly red but on the right occasion find that the odd white does hit the spot.
I would never question personal taste as at the end of the day there really is only personal degrees of yum or yuck. I was just checking how far to one side you lean.
