After reading that I'd love to try it.
Best Pinot outside of Burgundy - huge praise.

Has anyone in Aus found where to buy this wine?

Exactly the same as Andrew Jordan

x3 2023 Setiono Shiraz Lowke
x3 2023 Setiono Syrah Flaxman

Interestingly I ran into Samantha (the winemaker) while I was in the Barossa.
Lovely person and had a good chat about the wines.

I just checked and didn't even realise you had posts of the same title. Maybe subconsciously I called it that.

Coonawarra notes - 2024

I've just come back from a trip to Coonawarra with a short stop in the Barossa and thought I'd put some of my thoughts down. Special thanks to phillisc for his pre trip advice. Fantastic tips. October is Coonawarra month and definitely a good time to go. This is because the wineries all have back vi...

Just thought I'd round out this for future reference. Only visited 4 wineries Logan Estate - Excellent tasting, a lot of fruit from Orange, overall good quality and the entry level was well made and decent value. Gilbert - Bad experience. Put us outside and forgot about us. Eventually got a tasting ...

Mudgee Wineries

I'm off to Mudgee for the long weekend and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for cellar doors to visit. Haven't had any Mudgee wine for a long time and wasn't the biggest fan but that was 25 years ago - I'm sure things have changed. Maybe after something a bit different rather than com...

Re: Eperosa 2017 Magnolia Shiraz - too much Brett

just to close this out - we (Brett and I) came to the conclusion that the 6 pack must have been heat affected. Each bottle in the 6 had the same problem. No one else has experienced it so seems the most likely outcome. I have never had this happen before Was the heat at your end or his, or in trans...

Re: Eperosa 2017 Magnolia Shiraz - too much Brett

so I also have bottle numbers and they are all very close - 1909 (not corked), 1864 and 1753 (both corked). I'm assuming the labels are all put on in sequence but my 6 pack contained 1864 and 1753 numbers. This makes sense as I'd say they are wouldn't go into 6 packs in the same order they are label...

Re: Eperosa 2017 Magnolia Shiraz - too much Brett

So I gave a bottle to a friend to try and he said it was absolutely corked. He had one of the same wines/vintages from his collection and it was fantastic. So being corked is much more likely I'd say. I'm not sure how correct this is and would like to hear others. Brett would be a whole of wine for ...

Eperosa 2017 Magnolia Shiraz - too much Brett

Just wondering if anyone has had this wine? I just opened a 6 pack and tried a bottle. Just such a strong smell of band aid and not pleasant at all. I messaged Eperosa 3 years ago about the same issue (on the same wine) but they said no one else has brought it up. Given how it works unlikely be due ...

Halliday Wine Companion notes on Sami Odi

Got an email from the Wine Companion and they had this as the headline. "Sami-Odi has become a cult wine label. Perhaps it's because of the small quantities produced, but more likely it's because the wines are damn good. For context, Tasting Team member Dave Brookes rated the wines from the las...

I read as much as I can and stick to a few basic rules about region, grape, winemaker, vintage. I do listen to comments from people who I think understand wine - wine friends, good merchants, people on forums etc. As an example - I bought DC Shaw wine from the comments made by Felix on this forum. Re: Need help on Petersons bottle

You can still buy it on their website for $220. Auction price would be lower is my guess. Petersons seem ok to me but haven't had any of their wines for 30 plus years, so maybe things have changed. To me they are a family winery doing reasonable but not spectacular wines. 15.8% is very high for a HV...

Think the jury is out for me at least re Setiono. A bottle from last years release had a distinctly bitter note and the level of acid was overpowering. What Sami Odi ordering level is everyone?

I know they have 6 levels

1 - tahi
2 - rua
3 - toru
4 - whā
5 - rima
6 - ono

I'm guessing 1 is the top. If anyone is a 1, when did you first start ordering?

They are numbers in Maori.

A few months ago I completed the WSET lvl 2 course. I did it at Ryde TAFE over 7 or 8 Saturdays from 10am to 3pm A big part of the course is the structured tasting and assessment of wines. It really helped to work through and think about each wine. We tasted about 12 wines each day. The course was m...
