Hmm, not quite ready for that, still have a lot of wine, especially pre-2003 which is mostly under cork.

That's just a quirk of the photo I think, I could only cram 1-2 more corks in there and it's been shaken down a couple of times too.

BTW I don't know the answer, I haven't actually counted them yet, but will do this weekend.

Good question, already thought of that, but the answer is zero. I don't put the tainted corks in there, they either go back with the bottle to claim a replacement or go in the bin.

I was only joking - trying to pretend I was taking a scientific approach. I am sure you did your best :D - although after what you have said I will also be claiming victory for 530 and 531 and in any other case I will blaming my loss on optical illusion.

This makes me think to fill this jar (as someone with not much old wine) that I would take about 10 years to fill this jar.

Unfortunately yes, but many of them would be from wines pre 2003 vintage rather than new buys, although I still do buy some new-release wines sealed with cork where the wine is desirable enough. My cellar has enough wines sealed with cork to continue the competition for a few years yet, but I'll have to find another container for next time.

I've got some bad news for some of you who may not have checked the prior year post or read bacchaebabe's early post.
Last year the answer was 527.
Last year there were sparkling corks in the mix.
Sparkling corks on average take up slightly more space than regular corks.
There are no sparkling corks this year.
It stands to reason that any calculation/guess under 527 has little chance of being correct.
