Correct. I was updating everything on my phone and it deleted Ben's handle so I had to try guessing. Once I actually get to my computer I can update accurately and include reserve list

1 bottle minimum. Any backups is totally up to you. This is the same for any offline, although no-one seems to adhere to it. :-)

Don't feel any obligation to bring more than one.

Given the price of Barolo and Barbaresco, I will personally be happy with just one good example of either wine.

On the off chance that two spaces open up, please put myself and my partner down. I have a Borgogno Barolo Riserva 2001 and Fontanafredda Barolo Vigna La Rosa 2000 set aside for such an occasion.

I will probably organise another Barolo/Barbaresco offline once we get back from our Italy trip - given the popularity of this one!

Extremely variable, generally 'middle age' examples are below retail price of the current vintage however.

Should be magnums. :D

Nebbiolo doesn't knock you around the next day - possibly with the exception of modern expressions and those who react to oak.

Hi rooman,

Can I put my name down on the reserve list as well?

No big deal if I don't make it, but happy to fill the spot if plenty of others drop out for any reason...

Thanks

New Venue. Ok we are now booked for the Ladder at W Wharf on 4 May. For those that haven't tried this venue before its a BYO option adjacent to Ottos. It operates on a shared tasting menu. I have eaten here half a dozen times though they are introducing a new menu later this month. it is also one of my favourite BYO restaurants in town. the price will be $80 per head including BYO charge. please let me know if you CANNOT make it as i have to pay a deposit.

cheers

Yes that one too. Subsequent to my post they have sent through their banquet menus. $80 excluded dessert or cheese. There is a $90 option that included dessert but my preferences was cheese and more entries which suit the reds for $95 incl BYO. So unless people verhmently object I propose we go with the $95 menu.

Sounds great, cheers Mark, looking forward to this. Put me down for a Produttori Barbaresco 1988 with a younger backup or two.

Hi Mark
2004 La Spinetta Barolo Vursu 'Vigneto Campe.

Fwiw, In case people don't have any Piedmont whites, i'd be comfortable if you choose to allow white burgs as a substitute

Why not a Barbaresco and a Barolo .

1996 Produttori de Barbaresco Reserva Montestefano ( should be interesting to add to Produttori vertical)

2000 Elio Grasso Barolo Reserva Runcot

Looking forward to a great night of neb. Any idea what the menu looks like?

I am afraid I will have to withdraw from this in favour of a night at the Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL Club celebrating another successful cricket season (well my son's anyway).....looks like you have a guernsey Scott.
A shame as it looks like a top list too and means missing out on a birth year wine (still haven't had a good '74) but I shall instead silently raise a schooner of Old to missed opportunities :(

No problem with the $95 menu, as long as the food is good. I was back from UK+Spain, still in holiday mode. Could you please confirm which restaurant it is going to be? What is the address?

Ugh, sounds like a pretty amazing line up underway, but the notice has come a bit late for me. I now have stuff on the next 3 nights after this so will have to give it a miss
