Best wineries/suggest to visit in the Barossa - this weekend

Hi, I am just heading off this weekend to the Barossa (childless) for the Melbourne long weekend. So I will have Sat - Mon for visiting cellar doors. Used to do this trip annually before children. However was after some recommendations on some good cellar doors to visit currently. We like good reds ...

Corked fortified wine - anyone else struck this.

I just purchased a Seppelt Grand Rutherglen Muscat, I have had this before but this one seemed very different. I opened the bottle and initially picked up a whiff from the cork and instantly thought - this is tainted...... I actually had a standard Rutherglen Seppelt muscat and a 12yr old Classic St...

All I can say is "too much chilli is never enough" - but for food requirements such as this I still always follow the breakout trend to try a bright young rich fruit Shiraz. Goes against all common thinking but damn it works, if you have the right wine with enough fruit, not too much tannin etc... i...

Found a "premium 2001 SA Cab Sav" that was supposedly a $25 export wine. tried it one night after an hour in a decanter and it held up against a couple of other "real" $25 wines. still looks good after 5 hrs in a decanter so is not too bad a buy at all. Especially when it was on sale for $5.50 a bot...

Help with lever screwpull recommendation

Hi I was looking to buy a lever screwpull/cork remover for a friend as a present. Personally I like and use a dual hinged waiters friend. However I was after a good quality one for a friend who would give it a fair bit of use. The original is just a bit too much over the budget for a present. Any he...

Elderton 1997 Shiraz - wonderful wine, all at dinner loved this, really probably at its peak but still years to go before it drops off. l Leasingham Bin 61, finally crawling out of the hole it was hiding in over the last 9-12 months. Will be a magnificent QPR wine as it evolves. Rymill 2000 Shiraz, ...

Preservation of leftover wine an experiment.

I saw this topic on another Forum and decided to grab something I had dug up in the past when I was trying to figure this out for myself. Here is the URL for the article I found on the net which was a very interesting read on someones wine preservation experiment. Personally I use half bottles to mi...
