1996 Wynns John Riddoch - a bit of a funky nose, verging on what I'd expect from a pinot. Lots of olives on the palate, reasonable length. I expected more given the vintage. Mike, I opened one of my '96 JRs several months back and found it hard to distinguish the flavours in the wine because of the...

Sorry to differ Michael but if you look in the bidding history the bidder has bid $149 each, for 12 individual bottles.
I think the bidder must be mistaken and thinks he's bidding for 1 dozen.

2003 Ata Rangi Pinot Noir - what is it worth??

I was just browsing the Grays Online wine auction and noticed that someone had bid $149 x 12 which equals $2176.20 for 12 bottles of 2003 Ata Rangi Pinot Noir with add ons and thats $181.35/bottle.
How good is this wine? Is it worth the money or has someone gone auction crazy??

What would you buy?

I've been saving my penny's and have around $500 to spend on wines for myself this Christmas. I have a reasonable cellar of around 300 wines mainly in the $20 - $30 range. I enjoy all wines white and red. I am thinking of buying an iconic type wine such as a Run Rig and spending the rest on $50 - $8...

I also have the Kitchener but it is the 430 bottles model. I have a little over 300 bottles in it worth over 10k and as my collection expands I expect I will purchase another. I am very impressed with the "fridge" as the temperature varies little. It is set at 15 degrees. In summer it has ...

Tyrrell's Private Bin Wine Club

Can any of the members give an approximate cost for the yearly mixed dozen for the Tyrrell's Privite Bin Wine Club?
I enjoy many of the Tyrrells wines and Gary Walsh at Winorama has sparked my interest in their Private Bin Wines.

Ratings Awarded for Wines

Does anybody feel the same as I do that the points awarded for wines are too high and don't leave room to fully express a clearer judgement on where a particular wine sits in relation to its peers? Rarely do you see a wine score higher than a 97 or lower than an 80. This leaves a judgement window of...
