Re: Sydney Offline - Sicily / Etna theme

I'm afraid with it being on a Friday I am out, sorry.

Enjoy the night.

I hope it doesn't get too messy, often the best wines of the night come out toward the end.

Sounds like an excellent theme.

Thanks for writing all this up Paul. It was an epic trip, some great discoveries, some disappointments, lots and lots of laughs, and the odd hangover ! Big thanks to Paul and drhesh, excellent travelling companions, and awesome wine knowledge. The trip benefited from each of us having slightly diffe...

Re: Mornington/Yarra Trip - Day 2 Yarra Valley

I think it is important to point out that after an email to them Yarra Yering have been very classy. A big apology and they are sending up a few bottles as recompense. Whilst it is pleasing to have our issues acknowledged, I do hope it gives them the prompt to have a look at their CD practices, anec...

Re: Mornington/Yarra Trip - Day 1 Mornington

To be fair though there was a lot of fluff in it, particularly info about their own site, history, blah, blah. Helpful sure but not particularly necessary.

Some decent bargains too if you have the time to look, very broad, an entirely separate list available by the glass too which is a great idea.

Top notes PC, glad you stayed committed throughout. Only day 1 thus far, it starts to get a bit loose by the time we get through day 2 ! I am sure Paul will post up more later this week. My very brief thoughts on day one and most of these will hardly be a shock to anyone who has covered a wine regio...

Re: Lakes Folly Vertical and Muse Hunter Weekend

What a brilliant weekend ! The thing that stood out most for me was the consistent level of quality across the 40 odd years of vintages. I think the '89 was my favourite of the lot, had a nice bit of funk to it. The '93,'94,'96 was a great run and as others have commented the younger vintages are hi...

All that being said, can you put a price on having all your wine on hand whenever you want it?

That can also be a cost.

I store as much as I can offsite to remove temptation late in the night when it starts making sense to open a bottle you would normally reserve for a more sober occasion.

2015 Mayer Chardonnay “How did you find the 2015 chardonnay growing season and harvest, Timo?”. “It was a good year…we got two barrels”, says Timo Mayer. That’s the sales pitch. No new oak, no lees stirring, but left on lees all year. Spicy, nougat, lemon pith, lemon rind, smoke and flint. Spicy ki...
