TN: 02 Coldstream Hills Pinot Noir

Post by Wizz »

Only one wine of any note this week, the 02 Coldstream Hills Pinot Noir

Nose initially raspberry, smallgoods and spice. Moves about a bit and the worm night gives it a bit of voatility. Palate is initially lifted spiced raspberry and strawberry, and over time shows some liqueured blackcurrant, again with a nice dose of spice and a wee bit of coffee oak showed after the bottle was open a while. Acidic, but clean. Let down a little by a slightly chalky chewy finish, but nice wine. Like to try this again when the weather is cooler.

Cheers

smallgoods?

I am unfamiliar with the term "smallgoods". Can you expand on this description?

Thanks.

Pika, pretty much the smell when you walk into a deli or butcher that makes a lot of their own sausages, salamis and cured meats. A spicy meats kind of thing.

Wizz,

Good to see someone is finally giving TORB a run for his money in the spelling stakes.

Either that or it really was a worm night with plenty of voatility
