Worthy buys at Changi Duty-free?

Post by GraemeG »

Work trip to Singapore in a couple of weeks. Don't recall anything outstanding last time I was there, although I seem to recall prestige Champagne was competitively priced, in a relative kind of way.
The net's no help - anyone been through Changi lately and have suggestions for good buys?
cheers,
Graeme

When I was there last year nothing particularly leapt out, except for some Martell Cordon Bleu Cognac.

1 Litre Bottle of Grey Goose Vodka for SGD$51. Apart from that most AU wines are cheaper here. From memory Wolf Blass Grey Lable Shiraz SGD$38, can be had for $24 here if you shop around.

Always found it very poor. I usually do my buying in Europe or the US.

Last time I was tere I got a couple of bottles of 98 Dom Perignon. I think it was roughly AU$120. Like you said, the prestige champers seems to be the best deal.

Haven't been through there for 18 months, but the value stuff was prestige champers (though not as much value as the previous year) and some of the better spirits (eg CC 12yr old, high end scotch etc.).
The Inniskillin which was so much cheaper there a few years back is now available here at comparative prices if you search too.
Recollections of the range and price of French and USA still wines was not too impressive.
