Post by ufo »

Hi Guys,

The Longwood 2006 Export Shiraz is avaliable direct from the wine maker at an exceptional price. Contact them at longwoodwines@bigpond.com if you want some.
Note:I've got no relation whatsoever with Longwood, just didn't want you guys to miss this oppurtunity.

Cheers

That is a very good point. If the host/the Forum administrator thinks this post is inappropriate, he can remove it just like he did many times before. Besides, there has been so many posts on this forum about deals and also as you know Longwood wines are not avaliable from anywhere but direct from the vinery and they only supply to the local market once they fulfill their export commitments.

Mate, take a look at the post about Mike press wines, people supplying info as to how to buy Mike press wines eventhough host of the forum does supply his winesn and then make silly comments.

ufo - if your quote is correct: -

"Besides, there has been so many posts on this forum about deals and also as you know Longwood wines are not avaliable from anywhere but direct from the vinery and they only supply to the local market once they fulfill their export commitments."

All the more reasons to support others, IMHO.

I have been involved in this forum for more years than I can remember and can not remember one instance when Gavin has removed a post like the original one here. He is to much of a gentleman to do so.

Not correct! Gavin made no comment at all. Here is what Brian (Red Bigot - the moderator) said..." I'm not sure why you would expect to find them there, they are mostly sold direct or via good independent e-tailer. Gavin (your host) often has them, but not sure if he does currently. ..."

Rick,

if you read my reply again, you will notice I did not indicate that Gavin made a comment. All I indicated was "host of the forum does supply Mike Press wines"
By saying that I was trying to point out that there was no opposition to the messages in which people are given advice as to how to buy Mike Press wines direct from the wine maker even though host of the forum do stock and sell them. Where as in my post some information about a wine that is not avaliable anywhere other than direct from the winemaker is being given. So there is no competition or wrong doing towards the business of the host. I do relaise the host owns and runs an internet wine retail business and gave it a careful consideration before I posted my message. If the wine was avaliable anywhere else even at a single retail outlet and/or e-retailer including the Host's, I wouldn't have posted it.

Mate, we can start an endless debate about your comment. But I choose not to, it is not that your comment does not have a merit but it is a very deep rooted issue and don't want to take heaps of space and time on the forum for it. besides it has been debated so many times before. I've just thought that it wouldn't be fair if I kept a very good deal that is out there from the members of this forum.

Maybe the site owners need to put up some clear guidelines on stuff like this, who knows

Question is, is the Longwood any good? SA shiraz isn't my usual cup of tea, but then it's not really tea at all is it, it's wine.

Anyone care to tell me something about it, other than it's a red wine from SA?

That's "owner" singular.

Re Longwood, look here, about half-way down the chapter:
http://www.torbwine.com/pf/SA2007C1.htm

I think the wine mentioned in the original post is the $26USD, not the Reserve?
Cheers

I'm not the owner/administrator, I just get to delete a bit of spam and other obvious crap. Gavin Trott is the board provider/owner/administrator and wine merchant.
