Top 10 wines <= A$30

Post by GrahamB »

I have noted the forums are currently listing their top 10 wines for the year. Lots tend to be at the middle to top end of the market. Can we find our 10 top wines at A$30 top price?

Here are some that I thought were pretty good. All were under A$30 but could have been on special

These are in no particular order.

Majella C/S 2001
Majella C/S 2000
Grant Burge Filsell 2000
Wirra Wirra McLaren Vale Shiraz 2000
St Halletts Blackwell Shiraz 1999
Wynns Black Label C/S 1998
Rosemount Traditional (J Watson) 2001
Thorn-Clarke Shotfire Ridge Shiraz 2002
Bowen Estate C/S 2000
Bowen Estate Shiraz 2000

Actually, you can pick it up at DM at the moment for under $30 and I got mine at $28.

Agree with the Kilikanoon Mort's Block Riesling for 2003 as well.

Hi

Guest mentioned the Penley Pheonix Cabernet. The 2001 (I think) just dropped off my top 10. My local bottleshop has the 2001 and some 1998 which I can get for $20.

JO does not rate the 1998 very highly. Has anyone any notes or impressions on the 1998 Pheonix and comparisons to the 2001.

I have collected all the recommendations from the postees to the best under $30 and have them in a spreadsheet. If I can find a way to post it and still maintain the cells I will do so soon.

Have a merry xmas all Image
