The new wine Cellar

Post by Andrew H »

Hello all, have been away for a while, I have been trying to read the site but not managing to write too much. A while ago I asked if anyone was interested to follow my cellar building project and had a few say yes, so if you are interested you can take a look at http://www.pcst.com.au/house/cellar.htm it is still a work in progress but is starting to take some shape.
Cheers, Andrew

I absolutely love the setting of your house and the views from there. Where in Australia is it?

I had a lovely cellar planned for a new house we were to build in South Africa. But since we decided to become Aussies we have canned that project. But I have kept the plans. Maybe I'll build in once I come over.

Still in two minds whether I'll get a house by the sea or a small wine farm. Perhaps both!

Hi Neel,
it is on the Mornington Peninsula - about 3miles to the closest winery, I figure I have the best of both worlds.

Hi Andrew

I came across Mornington Peninsula yesterday when I searched for "acreage property" around Melbourne. Also found some stuff across the bay. Approx 10acres. Could make a couple of barrels of wine on 10 acres!

Also saw some interesting properties around Perth. But Melbourne is still my preference ("they" say it is closer to Cape Town in climatic conditions)

Thank you for the link to your project. I am contemplating something similar (probably without the lift though) in the next 12 months in another part of Melbourne.

Cheers, Lev.

Serious cellar, overlooking the beach is nice. Pity about the buses and other traffic out front but double-glazed windows should help.

Go for the cooling system that has local support so you can hammer the suppler until the system meets factory/brochure/supplier-promised specs.

Perhaps you should talk to Gavin about filling the cellar.

Cheers
