Happs Nebbiolo

Post by Dave Dewhurst »

Happs Three Hills Nebbiolo, 2001. Crimson red centre to pink rim with a merest hint of brown in with the pink. Nose leaps from the glass powerfully, redolent with hot tar and licorice, with a herby undercurrent. Full bodied in the mouth, slightly unctuous, mouth coating red berry fruits, a pleasant rich tarriness, dusty milk chocolate finish, quite dry, moderate but soft tannins and awesome length. Pairing with venison and bacon/truffle mash results in softer tannins and an incredible depth of savoury red and buried black/blue fruits, still wrapped in dusty, dusky chocolate. Yum, yum, yum – a very high mark of praise indeed! My third of six, very, very impressive, the best yet in fact, with no hurry to drink up.

Cheers

Dave

I've always drunk them within a week, perhaps I should hold onto them for longer. Two weeks at least :-)
