TN: Voyager Estate Chardonnay 2002

Voyager Estate Chardonnay 2002
I'm beginning to think Margaret River is the spiritual Australian home of Chardonnay; or at least Voyager Estate is pretty well up there. Like the delicious 03, this was extremely elegant, focussed and composed.
An intense but repressed palate of nuts, just ripe stone fruits and a wave of subtle lemony citrus character with good length, this presented as a balanced, outstanding piece of work. Benchmark chardonnay and so youthful for it's age - time aplenty left. Tops.
Cheers

I'm not sure that it is the spiritual home of anything (except, perhaps, surfing) but I've been impressed by Voyager Chardonnay of recent vintages too. Very stylish and a significant contrast when lined up with creatures such as Pierro, Leeuwin et al.

I've also been most impressed witha couple of examples of Shiraz that Voyager have put out lately...

This is a brilliant wine...and I also pretty much agree that Margaret home to our greatest Chardonnay (although I like Yarra finesse).
